Got an 8.4v pack with a deans connector for my Thunder Dragon from the lovely people at overlander. Only wanted an extra quid to put a deans plug on the usually tamiya plug 8.4v. Sod soldering if it's a quid!

Also got an exciting pack from MCI for a project I have. All will be revealed when they're on the shell.

Fitted a 29T pinion to my FF03 today and gave the Laguna BTCC body a tidy up and also added the new 26mm +4 offset wheels along with Tamiya Super Slicks. Then went for a quick blast, car is pretty quick and surprising how much grip and traction it has, was great fun :)

I'm not sure on cockpits I think it makes them a little bit too realistic to me😐

I never cut body posts, always smoke the windows and have the unrealistic lowered look.

But I do love tyre decals.

Technically yesterday but cut and painted my first ever shell. Pleased with the results and a couple of things learnt. Used scouring for the body and wing and used drill bits for wood to drill the holes. One downside is that I didn't know there was a particular order put the stickers on so they are not quite in the right places. Lesson learnt.

Thanks. To be honest I think they look better in the flesh. I've got a second shell to do at some point that will be more of a custom design. Picked up a blue translucent spray to try on the next one. Might pick up a red as well to try. I really like how the kit feels compared to the old thunder dragon. Plastics feels great and love how little details have been thought of. Looking forward to running it. Just waiting on radio gear

Don't know if I am allowed to say but.

Put more decals on my Pajero and ordered a solid plastic body for

my new car that's not available yet.

Also got a free light set for it.

Finally paid for an RCMart order that has been sitting in my eBay cart for 7 days.  I requested combined shipping, 3 times.  I even emailed directly via the RCMart website but never got a reply.  I typically get a revised shipping price the next day from them.  I already committed to the purchase so I saw no alternative other than to pay the amount and hope for the best.

Started making some new body mounts to drop the shell lower, & fab some inner front arches from an old 2 litre coke bottle. Also made an extra long Scorcher exhaust pipe from an old metal pen that was sanded and flanged at the tip (back left of photo), quite happy how it turned out.7A734A18-3A4B-42EF-B94C-652A63B3CB31_zps

Received my interior cockpit set for my Laguna BTCC body. And tried hard to find decent interior pics online, but to no avail. :( luckily an email to Williams F1 team (which may I add responded super fast to, within 4 hours)  and they supplied some archive interior pics of the 1997 Williams Renault Laguna BTCC car. :) kinda made my day actually.

Painted up the black trim and the front grille on the Subaru XV.  Thought it was a good idea since it'll be going on a rally chassis and the black decals will be getting scratched up quick.  After a couple of hours spent masking and trimming I'm not convinced it was a good idea, but at least it's done now.

Most of the untidy marks are Sharpie marker on the outside and the rest I'll have a go at tidying up with body cleaner before painting the rest.

Put the Ravon RC Aluminum air filter kit on the 1/5 Buggy.

I have this huge car stand called my kitchen table that I use to work on it. ;)

Technically yesterday, but started the front end rebuild of the Thunder Dragon as my new shock mount I designed turned up from Shapeways.

2017-05-12_04-36-26

As always with these things it escalated. The front gearbox was slightly bent from a crash a few weeks ago but as I had leftover a parts a new casing is going on. Out with the old

In with the new

20170512_163808

Gears inside were in good nick so packed the diff with grease and reassembled.

Found the slop in the steering was a worn out original acoms as7 servo so out that came. Had a spare as11 from the MSC that came in my barn find lunchbox which was still tight so that went in. Spotted possible better packaging getting the ESC on top of the servo so that got done. Need a new chassis cover now to cut in the new layout. Also ordered some more suspension shafts as the screw pins in the lower wishbones keep backing out of the dreaded A5 part. Hopefully get it all back together next week.
