Cleaned up my Thunder Dragon and grasshopper3 after some really fun grass running on Friday on a recently cut football pitch near my office. Also stripped the dead cheap hobbywing clone esc I bought out of the Thunder Dragon after it died on Friday evening running in the street. Live and learn. TBLE-02S seems to run the 10.5t motor fine so ordered one of those.

Popped the 8.4v nimh pack I bought specially for the (now dead) esc up for sale on the sale forum if anyone is interested.

Managed to get some jobs done around the house, enough to get my parts released from guantanamo bay.

She's made me promise not to order anything else for a while, until I can sort through what I've got, I'm guessing things already ordered don't count! 🤞😯

Wooders you're a dead man walking, best get to hiding stuff for a while ;)

Today I got my new to me Plasma Edge DF02 up n running with some old school electrics... that came from another project... how's a radio set using crystals sound?

Not old enough?

How about a TEU101BK esc that has a cable that needs to be plugged into the receiver! BEC bah!

Anyway great to see it running around indoors... such a sleek looking buggy I love the lines of its shell swooping up to meet the angle of the rear wing... it's soon going to be attempting a speed run once I familiarise myself with its current running state and finding out what it needs to make it faster.

OMG I love the Dictator, please post pictures of this as you go along... I'm tempted to buy one if EBay throws it up cheap enough ;)

I just test drove it with two motors, crazy! By my standards at least lol. I got a bit scared and took it back inside after 5 minutes, I'm going to wreck it trying to drive it up and down the street, especially with my rubbish driving skills. I'll try and run it in a carpark or field or something tomorrow.

I'll start a build topic for it if you want.

It took me aaaages to get one on ebay, they have appreciated quite a lot recently. I ended up getting a really rough one for £25 after waiting for a year and then a week later another in really good nick for £40 from France! They sold like hotcakes over there compared to the UK so I search for items there now too.

Mine is still very much a work in progress, I need to sort the wiring out big time! I think it will be best to get the soldering iron out and cut out a lot of unnecessary cable once I've work out the best way to route it all.

I think those cartoon eyes on the bumper are about twice as wide since that test drive lol!

I really like the Plasma Edge body too, although mine are the Plasma Edge II but I don't think they're that different, other than mine needed the diffs from the earlier one to last more than a week.

Funny you mention the crystals, thats what we used yesterday, hadn't swapped crystals around in years but brought back memories of needing at least 2 sets to race in case of conflicts.

I've started the build on my Boomerang. Got front and rear gearboxes built in about 2.5 hours - not as quick as I used to be!

In .y defence, it's been a fair while and I was working with very poor lighting. Will be buying some new bulbs tomorrow!

I also seem to have bought this Wild Dagger http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182574149709

Don't know too much about it to be honest, just caught my eye. Didn't expect to win it, just chances my arm. Will be picking it up tomorrow and stashing it away until I get chance to give it a good going over.

Jon do you mean the TT02b Plasma Edge 2? You got me worried about weak diffs if you meant the DF02 one lol.

whats the reliability like on these 27Mhz radios? Can they be trusted over 100m away from you without doing their own thing? Mine is a Futaba T2ER transmitter with long extendable Ariel in good nick paired with a Futaba 2 channel receiver on red crystals... indoors I couldn't tell any difference from my 2.4Ghz radios.

Wow, looks even better with the body off! Those cartoon eyes are too funny, if you have the inclination do a thread on it, and good tip on the French thing, how do you check there???

Yep I have the TT02B so upgraded to DF02 diffs.

I never had any issues with them BITD but wouldn't have been 100m away. I had Sanwa gear and a mate had Futaba, both were fine. The racing was indoors too and we never had problems with them. I think with an esc you'll be ok as they should stop if they lose signal rather than the msc stuck on full throttle. I only changed to 2.4Ghz because I couldn't get my old gear working with the TBLE-02S. I would have bought the 2.4Ghz for racing though, the old stuff would have been in the TT02Bs

Bitten by the bug? I nearly bid on that, then remembered that I have a Twin Detonator waiting for me in the garage and I could do with not spending the money.

...so I bought a dodgy ORV instead!

Thats a decent effort, I stretched my Boomerang build out for ages as it was the last in a while, managed to delay for about 3 weeks then spread it over a whole day, with a second day for shell and decals.

Replaced the Dampers on my Jumper with 50520s and 50519s...  Yes, they've finally arrived (woohoo!)...  I've been testing them the last few nights, making adjustments, etc...

Tonight I managed to roll the car on the street outside...  No big deal I thought...

Then I came inside and noticed I had shattered the edge of one of my vintage Amrak/Imex "california directional" wheels...  Dang...  They looked really cool too...  Now the port-side left rear is totally messed up now...

Oh well, back to the HPIs...

Took my Neo Fighter out for it's maiden run.  Very fun!  With a 15t brushed motor and 5000mah battery it's plenty fast for me.  This is my first modern buggy and I really like it!

Picked up the Wild Dagger that I won on ebay yesterday. Seller seems to be a good bloke. Not had a proper look at the car yet. He had packaged it up ready for posting. We did open it back up so I've had a peek at it but not in depth.

After my Boomerang is build the plan will be to strip, clean and reassemble the Dagger. Adding ball races if needed and replacing any worn or damaged parts (if I can get replacements). Get an ESC to replace the manual one and possibly a couple of Torque Tuned motors. Ideally also a new body shell but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth so I'll see how it goes.
