Heard the wife utter the words "you're buying all this stuff but I haven't actually seen anything finished yet". So...

Finished painting my MB shell in Italian Red (boxart I'm afraid).

Discovered I am pretty bad with decal scissors no matter how much care I try and take.

Primed my SR shell. Repainted letters on 3 of the wheels after it got damaged trying to put the alloys in (duuur).

Took some photos of my Falcon to go in my showroom.

A very enjoyable day. ;)

Went bashing with Stonemole down the local mud heap (the kids have dug it up & turned it into a series of BMX jumps).

Took the Superfoot & my recently acquired Mad Bull, resplendent in it's new coat of fluorescent orange.

The Mad Bull lasted 2 minutes before it managed a half back flip & landed on it's tail, smashing the shell, it's still in one piece, but there are a lot more joins in it than when it left the factory  .

It was still drivable so I carried on, after about 5 minutes, the steering took a hit & jammed the link rod through the servo arm, meaning I could only turn right and of course this happens at the other side of the field where we were bashing ;) .

Didn't have a screwdriver so I tried to pry the rod back into place & snapped the servo arm.

Carried on with the Superfoot & thankfully didn't manage to break that.

I also proved that, given enough grip, it can pull wheelies on the power (RZ motor).

Rebuilt my Frog Beetle gearbox and made up a strengthener for the front stabilizer bar after yesterdays bash shennanigans

Did some swapping round of wheels. Put the Ax10s stock Rock Lizards and 2.2s back on it. The 1.9s just don't work on that chassis at all. Took the HPI 5 Star wheels and Dirt Hawg tyres off the TL01 Cuda, and stuck the 1.9s on there. Also took the rear wheels with the big Flat Iron tyres off of the Fighter Beetle, and put one set of Dirt Hawgs on that. Makes it look less "tractory", as now the wheels and tyres are a more similar size.

Took my temporary solid bar third shock off of the Angl-Box, and realised that the stock TL01 shocks that I took off it when I converted it to a TL01B are of a similar length, and would therefore do a better job.

Took Frog Beetle, newly shoed TL01 Cuda and Angl-Box to the Warren near Ashford for some solo bashing for a couple of hours. Frog Beetle DESPERATELY needs some new rear rubber, the Cuda goes and looks MUCH better with the 1.9s, and the Angl-Box continues to make me grin like an idiot.

Dropped in on my parents on the way home as my dad had some brass rod lying about that I'm to solder up and use as a roll cage for the 'box. They also live on what used to be the farm where my dad worked most of his life, and where I grew up, and there is quite a large stretch of tarmac outside their house. 19T competition motor, fully ballraced 'Box with a freshly charged nearly new 4600 NiMh battery and it's nice new third shock... just mental and completely wheely-tastic.

Carlos Fandango would be proud.

I went bashing today round the back of my friends work, the warehouse has these nice smooth concrete ramps out the back which the old df03ra was jumping nice and silently with little bottoming out and nice stable flat airtime. The new sport tuned motor is really kicking butt and any sign of loose surface its spinning the wheels and doing nice rally styles! :) Trying to get used to the slipper clutch too, I need to put my tamiya wrench on a keyring!

Been thinking about doing this for the past few days (watching too many MT vid's on the 'tube) and the bullhead one was still sitting in the box.

Just waiting on another flag now.

i spent too much $$ in the past 2 days on ebay....again. lol

i have a nice vintage roller blackfoot on the way which will get a parma lexan baja beetle body (also on it's way) so i can feel like i have a monster beetle.

teamcrp got a bunch of my money for frog, hornet and blackfoot goodies.

extra frog chassis on the way for the blackfoot (i like the grey better than the red).

i'm also praying that the blackfoot has a thorp in it, i think it may because it has a crp motor mount and an old losi revolution motor in it. i don't think the hex drives would hold up with that motor.

Got new TAMIYA spares for my HBX TL-01 B clone buggy today. Changed the broken upright and adjusted toe-in. I ran 2 packs on my track, finally dried up there. Haven't had a chance to run this buggy much yet. Those spiked tires really grips the dry dirt/grass surface flipping it over all the time. And it NEVER lands on it's wheels....

Ordered some hop-ups for my new TT-01 and bodyposts for the TL-01 B so I can change the buggy body for something that rolls around...

Finished wiring up my shed for power (And it all works perfectly),Installed the fireplace and flue (Had me worried cutting a hole in my shed roof but its all sweet) ,Started work on the workbenches (Daughter reckons they are going to be too high but I said I dont want dwarfs working in my shed) ,Got the wife with the chaulking gun to start filling in around the bottom of the tin where it meets the concrete with sealer so I dont get any rodents coming in (She has done a great job so far).

All in all its been busy I have been getting up earlier as well 10:30 AM LOL earlier some say... its different to see the sun WoW but as a result of getting up earlier I have been hitting the wall earlier as well no more 2-3 AM nights / mornings anymore .As a result of doing so much I have really given the painkillers a nudge not good but what can one do.

Will post pictures of the Tamiya shed when its finished Iam sure people dont want to see a half completed shed .

I have found myself sitting in front of the fireplace at night radio on in the background cup of coffee in hand having a feeling of achievement that I had actually done something but still losts to do :D

So, What have you done today?

X-trail chassis from TCS Crawlers arrived yesterday, and I spent the day bolting all the AX10 bits to it. Wheelbase is a gnats too short for the HPI Charger chassis with the stock dampers (converted from external spring to ones inside). Shorter dampers should resolve this. Will have a play and stick the 1.9s + Rock Creepers on tonight! Pics to follow

the mailman just dropped off a parma lexan baja beetle shell. it's much nicer than i thought it would be, it's going to look great on my custom monster beetle.

the mail man visited me again today, the box he brought contains the worst smelling car i have ever seen.

it's a blackfoot, but it really smells bad. good thing i'm going to take it apart 100% and clean it as well as restore it.

I rebuilt the rear end of my Kyosho Assault by buying a new rear gearcase and ball bearings to replace the solid bushing gearcase the kit originally came with. The old bushings simply wouldn't come out, so I gave up and got a new gearcase instead (one that didn't have any bushings pre-installed). Then I installed bearings in the front wheels and rear arms (knocking the old bushing outs first). Cleaned and re-lubed and shimmed the gears so everything is silky smooth now.

I had somehow managed to lose the OS CZ-1 engine's start cone fixing screw, so had to buy that from a hobby shop halfway across the country that thankfully had such vintage parts and was willing to ship to me. Then I cleaned out the fuel tank, replaced the pickup tube with a new one, replaced the fuel tubing and filter, and finally the glow plug.

Amazingly, the engined sputtered to life after a few pulls. There is a long history between me and this engine, but I won't bore with the details. Bottom line is that it never really ran right. Always ran hot and wanted to stall. After all this time (going on 23 years now of ignoring it), I finally decided to attack the problem head-on, and I think I finally started to figure out the problem(s): Some dirt near the tip of the fuel needle inside the carb and perhaps an incorrect factory setting for the fuel needle (too lean). And maybe a dying glow plug? No matter, it seems to run better now. I ran almost a full tank through it by hand and the whole time it idled nicely and never seemed to overheat.

I'm rather happy with the modifications, so it's time to re-install the radio gear and have a run. :)
