Haven't logged in a while.

My collection is getting thinned out severely due to life issues. So I'll start by selling off my 58002 Martini Porsche this week and put an ad up in the Sales section with pics including extra parts and the original Futaba radio. Hit me up with a PM if you're interested. I'd like it to go to a good home and TC member before I put it up on ebay. I'll absolutely entertain offers.

Sad to see them go. I'll be keeping my Wild One and Pumpkin as their sentimental value is huge. :(

Regards,

Blake

I have done some background reading and found the following:

You are correct about the plastic being an insulator - ideally the heatsink would be painted in a matt black coating with similar conductive properties to the substrate. You are also correct about visible light - it is the infrared end of the spectrum that is of concern here. And you are also correct about black heating up faster in the sun. Matt black both absorbs and radiates heat better than light and shiny.

So, if the heatsink were out in the sunshine, black would be bad. However since it is in the shade of the bodyshell, black is good. The black paint formulated for fullsize car radiators ought to be ideal.

Nice work Turnip!  Do auto parts stores sell radiator paint in a spray can?

What size blue tamiya rod did you use for the steering servo to the aluminum steering? I would like to do that esp since i have some available

Ok buddy.  I used hop-up part number 54248 3X23mm Aluminum Turnbuckle Shaft.  It comes with 2 so you'll have a spare!  :)

Finally made it to the nearby 8th scale track. We've had a lot of rain so of course the parts of the track I wanted to use were the bits that had puddles. Mucked around for about 10min but I was too worried about puddles. If I hit the jumps perfectly I was safe, but of course the reason i need to practice is I'm all over the show so stopped. Will try again tomorrow if it doesn't rain in the meantime, hopefully it will be drier then

What got to go around the 1/8 track, a Tamiya? I always ended up leaving my 1/8 track ( haven't been in a couple years now) with a broken RC or two, depending if I brought 1 or 2 RC's... i.e... never left with a working RC ;)

Haha, I was lucky today then.

Nothing got to go right around as i only have 10th scale and some of the jumps are too big, just asking for breakages. I meant to take a Tamiya for my wife (it has stick controllers which she finds easier) but forgot. She wanted to come and watch. I took the 2 Kyoshos and only ran the Lazer for half a pack.

I am keen to take the Tamiyas though, the Boomerang and Fox will be fine, and the TT02B with the 13.5T will be interesting...but then I will probably leave the track with 3 broken Tamiyas

I finished touching up the paint (again) on my Tamiya F150 w/ '50 Chevy pickup body. Backstory - Every time I knock some paint off I repaint it the same color. The real trucks always have patina unless they are show trucks. So by recoating the old paint with new inside the lexan. It creates a nice patina look from the paint imperfections. I also added some body washers this time to change how the body sits on the chassis.

Suzuki SX4 WRC body trimmed.  Chassis adjusted to a 251mm wheelbase to accommodate.  I'll paint it up this weekend.  I think I'm going to do this one as a runner body and get a 2nd to do as a show body.

A wet day and a half in a caravan has led to some ebaying and Modelsporting.

Ordered my lad a black edition lunchbox, a couple of overlander 3300mah batteries from eBay.

From modelsport I've ordered some core RC micro receivers, one for my Blackfoot and one most likely for my Procat. Also a couple of Quicrun 1060 ESCs, these are going in to my lads cars and the ESCs from them will be repurposed into the Blackfoot and Procat. Also got an etronix, digital waterproof servo coming. That's going in the Twin Detonator and the Core RC servo from there is going in the Blackfoot.

Good idea with the black! The jury is still out weather I should invest in this re-re? It's a handsome looking buggy and I (back in the day) couldn't afford the Bigwig so I went for the boomerang which was brilliant and I raced it to death! But looking at your build is persuading me "yeah why not!"

Thank you! To further entice you- the black has a base layer of "Lamé flake" aswell. Looks absolutely brilliant on the Bigwig :) (even more so in person)

I finished the dampers today... they are smooth as fluorine. I'm waiting on some different rims though as I'm passing on the Moon Craft dish wheels. So for now, Bigwig must wait... But my next project will keep me busy until then!

Funny! I was just looking at different types of paint  only the other day and I noticed that "lame flake" I'd never heard of it before and I thought it was a typing error but it does look very good even in the photos!......... The finished buggy will have to be shown of course?

Thanks! It's a difficult color to photograph at times. Definitely will be shown ;)

I arrived at my brothers house to be presented with mt nephews 2 rc cars a madbull and an ECX? I think it was. Anyway. Uncle David it wont work. Can you fix it? After brief inspection minor soldering required or new esc (preferably) and he will be all set. Kid has no patience but has potential.

I'm glad you got it sorted, Uncle David, -as this is the stuff that's worth its weight in gold. And then some.
