The rear body posts moving around on the MF01X Jimny have been bugging me for awhile now, but I didn't feel like spending a whole lot of money.  I had the simple idea of using some wire.  Some bending with the pliers and now the body wobble is vastly improved for a total cost of nothing.

I am going to have to steal that idea as my body post solution on my TL01 Landcruiser bounces around a bit.

Bit more progress on the Vajra this evening, till I got to the point of needing the upgraded knuckles that haven't arrived yet. So, back in the box for a wee while it went.

After the speed run chatter of F1 cars, I thought I'd dig out the F104W kit that I know I didn't finish. Seems I got further than I thought:

Too late now to start building the ball diff, but hopefully tomorrow I can get the body cut and the masking done.

My boy had such a good time playing with his mom's MF-01X while his sister and I drove our rally cars that he asked for a rally rig for himself.  I had a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRC #51289 body and a few left over hop ups I didn't need for my build so I figured why not?  I picked up the cheapest TT-02 on sale at Tower Hobbies to use as the chassis.

After a few nights of tinkering on it this is where we're at with the chassis:

It seems like a million!  My TT-02 stable:

  • TT-02B Pink special edition Neo Scorcher (daughter)
  • TT-02 Subaru XV rally (daughter)
  • TT-02 Raybrig Acura (son)
  • TT-02 Subaru Impreza WRC rally (son)
  • TT-02R Suzuki SX4 rally (me)

I don't think I'll be building another though.  :D  5 is more than enough!

Did some horse trading with my mate, managed to get some TG10 axles and 70mm tierods for my DT-03T project in exchange for the standard axles and tierods. He was also kind enough to give me some 10mm plastic hexes to use with the TG10 axles, which should keep me going until I can get some clamping alloy ones on payday. :)

Gave my boys their cars today.

One Lunchbox and one Mad Bull greatly appreciated :)

Am really impressed with the boys. First time with pistol controls and they got on really well.

I'll post a video if I can, when I get on a desktop.

Unfortunately one is left handed so struggles a bit with the Tactic TTX300. Is there anything similar for left handers?

I got sent a tiny 1/26 scale 4WD truck to test/review from Banggood. It's flipping mental! It's like a teeny hobby grade and has 4WD, 3 wire servo and even has full bearings! There's a few downsides like the suspension is a little firm for my tastes and the servo is a bit twitchy and doesn't like to settle but it's so much fun. It's nothing that hasn't been done before but it's the first time I've experienced something that's so small and so powerful apart from my HBX 1/20 monster truck AKA Venom Mini Giant, Trinity Clash, A Tech, Leo X etc but that's quite a bit bigger.

Very grin inducing!

I also picked up one of these huge toy grade monster trucks like they sell in Argos and Toys R Us etc. I've had my eye on one for a while because they looked like they would be fun to tinker with. I got it on facebook market place for £5! It's got 2 380 size motors and skid steering like a tank or bobcat loader and will climb pretty much anything. I'm thinking about converting it to hobby grade with some cheap chinese parts and putting in 390 motors etc just for a laugh, it's huuuge and just has some charm to it. Nice big chunky gears too.

Thanks, downloading now👍

I've found imgur to be great, photobucket was ok for linking but I found if you wanted to browse peoples albums on the actual Photobucket site it was like trying to swim through treacle, incredibly slow and popups everywhere. Even worse on mobile, pop up adverts that make your phone vibrate etc. It was ok years ago but it's just gone from bad to worse. Imgur all the way for me recently!

I've never seen a Blackfoot beside a Clodbuster before. I didn't realise how big a Clod is!

*adds a Clodbuster to the wanted list*

Spent the day with the car club at an event at Ayr race course.

Way too slippy for anything high speed, but the boomerang on 2s ran great!

3s was a bit much for the conditions, and then the following 2s was running great for 25 mins, until the silver can went fizz, even the bearings had melted through the end bell. 😕

Fitted a 4 pole 3800kv to the mid, that ran great too!

I got my hands on six full pieces of new sod for free so I decided to add them around the border of my track.  trying to keep it heavily watered so it will knit in and not die in the summer heat.  I also decided I need to increase the gap between the two jumps by a couple feet.  As it sits now I can clear it easily, and since they're too close together you can't really take each one, you have to go full over the gap.  I'm hoping increasing the space between them will give you two options, take each jump one at a time, or go for clearing the gap.

whatever scraps of sod I had left I used to start building up the embankment on the straight.

I picked up some of the cheap plastic "speed cones" you can get on amazon and ebay to add a tarmac area of track, so now the track has multiple race surfaces.  Makes me want to build a rallye car next!

I managed to take out a bunch of cones by the end of the session.

Thanks, not sure what colour to do the frames yet as I am not 100% liking the main colour.

I guess the advantage with the flake means you can get away with doing any colour. Could do silver or copper?

I like the sound of silver, I will give it a try but I think I will be getting a new body and doing a different main colour.

Lost out on a nice looking but in need of some tlc Manta Ray last night and saw a fantastic looking F103rs that I stuck a cheeky bid in only to get outbid at the last minute but I got a second chance email from ebay for the F103rs for a very reasonable £60. I've never owned an rc F1 car before so it'll be interesting to see how it goes before I restore it and maybe change the shell for a Ferrari 312T1 one.
