Looks like a Dymo 160 label printer to me...

Bingo!  I love my label maker, I got it on sale through amazon for 9.99.  best ten bucks I've spent!

First bit of RC tinkering for at least 6 months! 😳 Fitted some towing points on my old TL01B Baja Bug.

Theres a pretty good chance they're get damaged where they are but that should add to the overall "rough n ready" look I'm hoping for, besides they're just cheapie Chinese bits that cost under £4 a set. Now I need to get that engine painted and dig out the proper Scorcher hardbody a bought to get it looking like a proper sand racer 👌 I'm sure I had some flickering LEDs to fit into the exhaust too 🤔

I picked up some Tamiya brand paint for my Type 2 Volkswagen Wheelie. I'm going with white base color, and purple for the two tone. Then leaving the wheels white. This will be my first time using this paint as Tamiya has a couple different paint types. So I have no idea how good it is. But everyone keeps telling me how horrible the paint that I've been using is by comparison. So to use a bit of US slang, it will be a "Pepsi challenge" of RC car paint!  :)

My club has opened the track for members now, so I managed to get down to practice. Its a 40 min drive each way so have been waiting for the weather to improve, nothing worse than getting there and finding its covered in water. It made a massive difference being able to spend about an hour driving without the pressure of racing and no one there watching. It would have been nice to have a bunch of marshalls though...

The Lazer now has a rattle, probably the slipper clutch but not 100% sure. The Ultima was difficult initially but when you get it right it just seems to float around the track. One problem with running stock class (17.5T blinky) is that the cars aren't quite fast enough to clear the double in one go, they slap on the top of the second jump. IF you get it right you can tap the brakes and land on the front wheels, but thats a big IF. On race day i think I'll stick to singles.

Also took the Boomerang for a laugh and I reckon I was getting better lap times with it than the others. It was a lot slower with just a torque tuned which meant more time on the wheels. Will put the 13.5T in next time I go and see what happens.

Ok so I broke the Scorcher, the combination of running it in the street and kerbs isn't a good mix.

Two runs out the front and two different broken suspension parts.

I'll make sure we only run this in the park or somewhere with lots of space to play!

So new stub axles now ordered.

Packed everything up as moving tomorrow. Never realised how much rc junk I had. My small rc fleet (3 cars) truck, smaller truck and buggy is riding in my big car!

Busy day today. I started by fitting a Hobbywing waterproof, metal geared servo into my boys Mad Bull. Next was putting the receiver into a balloon for a bit of waterproofing Then I put some Spider-Man decals on the new, red body for it.

After that was replacing the servo in the other boys Lunchbox with another Hobbyking. Then also putting the receiver in a balloon.

Then I cut out the Parma Blackfoot body that I got NIP for £10. I also soldered up some connections to a Trackstar 17.5T brushless motor for the Blackfoot. Gave it a little test, wondered why it didn't work then realised I hadn't connected the sensor lead nor had I set the ESC to brushless mode. Sorted that and all was good.

After that lot, I had a rest and a browse on eBay. Saw a really nice looking Super Clodbuster that was just 15mins away. It was up as buy it now or best offer. So I put an offer in. A bit of to and fro and I arranged to go have a look at it this evening.

Needless to say I now own a Super Clodbuster.

At least I don't *need* to do anything to the Clod, other than tweak the steering a bit.

Everyone does it, a quick test drive out the front of the house and before you know it something has snapped. I did it with a really obscure Hobby Engine monster truck once, they are known for making RC excavators and tanks nowadays but a long time ago they once made a pretty cool twin 540 monster truck. I managed to snap one of the lower wishbone mounts off at the front. The entire world wide web has about one wheel nut to offer in terms of spares! A bit like the time I took my lovely old Radio Shack Red Arrow out for a drive and somehow let my 5 yo convince me to drive it around the skate park, when a 30 year old semi classic lands on it's roof from 15 feet up and red bits of plastic fly everywhere it can be pretty emotional.

I also picked up one of these huge toy grade monster trucks like they sell in Argos and Toys R Us etc. I've had my eye on one for a while because they looked like they would be fun to tinker with. I got it on facebook market place for £5! It's got 2 380 size motors and skid steering like a tank or bobcat loader and will climb pretty much anything. I'm thinking about converting it to hobby grade with some cheap chinese parts and putting in 390 motors etc just for a laugh, it's huuuge and just has some charm to it. Nice big chunky gears too.

74eW18u.jpg

I just had a quick teardown of this, it has to be one of the last decent toy grades, I'm pretty impressed. The motors are mounted up in the chassis and then a series of gears go down each of the 4 arms to the wheels, there's a clutch each side up by the motor. The gears are nice and chunky and 32DP teeth. As stock it has one of those plastic battery packs with 8 AA nicads inside. The run time is predictably grim. I added a Tamiya connector and tried my own pack made out of Sanyo Eneloop pro cells, the runtime has increased about 4x now and the performance is massively improved too. I'm not sure what spec the little nicads in the stock pack were but I know that Eneloop pros are about the best AA nimh out there and can actually sustain a 10 amp discharge current which might not sound much but is pretty impressive for AA. The truck is faster and has more torque with the Eneloops. It's pretty awesome off road, it will climb most things and handle gradients right up to the point where it tips back on itself.

Next stop is 2 separate hobby ESCs and a V-tail mixer so that I can use a pistol transmitter and get it to handle more like a conventional truck even though it has skid steering. The mixer has arrived but I'm still waiting on the 2 ESCs.

Back in Tamiya land, I had a quick bash with my Boomerang. I'm always impressed by how well the suspension works on that buggy considering that the front mono shock is inherently flawed. It might not be a race winner but when you drive it just after a Hornet or Grasshopper it almost glides over the ground in comparison.

I ordered some new ball joints for the Scorcher and I used my new Tamiya servo tape as well.

Exciting stuff...

I've also decided to sell some models to reduce my 'to do' list down a bit.

1st one to go will be the Wild One.

I ordered a grocery list of parts today. Mostly they are Traxxas parts for a relative's pair of prehistoric Blue Eagle's. But also I'm suffering as I found another wheelie cheap online, and I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on it.... I have a personal rule to not buy another RC when I have not completed the one that is sitting here new in the box. The drama's of personal politics!  -lol

Yesterday i went crazy on an auction site and got the highest bid on several things.

Pink gears for the c-chassis, green and yellow motor wires, white spike front tires, acto-power motor, all white parts for the TT-02 chassis, green flourcent ball ends? , and a used F1 chassis.

Got two more auctions going that ends today so excited to see if they goes my way aswell :)

I completely agree with you... so many things you find to label once you own one!!

Haha my kids just bought me one of these for my birthday, I can see it being so useful! I'm a bit miffed it needs 6x AAA's though 😕

Last night I put a new servo in my M05 and a servo horn in place of the factory saver, took it for a spin and its miles better, not perfect though. I also stuck some reflective decals on the sides of my flatbed trailer.

stripped this down to nothing....... main plastics are in the wash. tranny hardware (which is just a spur and diff balls) and other metal pieces in bins drying off.
