Made some strut braces for my TT02B's out of some m3 threaded rod and spare eye things. Hopefully this will tighten up the front but not remove the flex which stops stuff breaking. I've heard that the upgraded towers just break anyway, so thought I'd try a free fix.

Even if it makes them handle worse it will wind up my mate who has the same and we've agreed no upgrades except bodged homemade ones

Decided to drop the 65t motor into my cc-01 and decided to tidy up the wiring at the same time, the motor is now directly soldered to the esc purely because I don't like the look of bullet connectors and I shortened the wires to the receiver from the esc and servo. I never really take stuff out of my cars (apart from receivers which I always secure in with velcro) so it's all nice and neat which makes me happy.

I have a couple and they have been excellent. There's also a seller on ebay selling ones under a different name that are so close to them that I can only assume the are re-branded. Dead cheap too.

Unfortunately they seem to have run out of the 23T 25T ones although they still have Hitec 24T fitting

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RC-Model-Servo-Saver-Multi-Listing-Discounts-on-quantity-/361533067900?var=&hash=item542d0cd27c:m:mRtdFR_s-ah52nJ5hsUJIpw

I took a punt on a pack of 5 of the larger servo savers from the above seller.

They arrived today and I fitted one into my lads Lunchbox to replace the stock one that he obliterated.

I wasn't sure it would fit to start with but it went in ok in the end. Had to shorten the steering rods a bit, and tweak the steering end points on the transmitter, due to the differences in angle and throw caused by the larger servo saver.

Will see how it copes.

Bought some licence decals, made some plates for them and attached them to my cc-01 bronco, which I think I might sell.

Plates look awesome. I rock the traditional green and white Colorado plates on my car and motorcycle. :D

Completely stripped and rebuilt the M04L I got in the lot deal.... I like it and it has/had some decent mods and heck it looks new minus the spots where the original owner hit his soldering iron on the rear gearbox while trying to put in a motor............. rookies smh.

IMG_2959_zpsnxihkxiu.jpg

IMG_2965_zpsh5ofcdpn.jpg

Yeah the paint job is odd...Id replace the body If this is the model I decide to keep.

Mods I found were as follows

-CF gear shafts

-Ball diff

-Rear CVD's (which have been removed since they are Pt# 53205- not designed for the M04)

-quick release batt piece

-rear motor heat sink

-full bearings

I like it because of the weird rear end where you have to use the wide wheel hexes and the fact that this one uses standard sized wheels which makes me wonder how it would look with the shorter axles and offset wheels in the rear....... might look pretty awesome.

Its either this or the heavily modded F103... I haven't messed with it yet so it might change once I do.

Tried my new lunchbox with the yellow cva kit. It's hard to describe how it behaves now, it's still crude technically but it's much more composed and controllable and handles the rough stuff better. It's a weird combination of refinement and crudeness!

My lunchbox has now ended up on it's roof 5 times and they have all been my fault doing stuff that I knew was going to end badly as soon as I had started to do it lol.

I'm still surprised by how well it stays upright, it has exceeded my expectations in this department. I guess it's not really mega fast with the stock motor which helps and the CVA kit helped too but I really thought it was going to be forever tipping over but so far the only time it has threatened to do it is on tarmac that has intermittent gravelly bits, if it goes into a slide but then hits clean tarmac the tyres bite and it wants to tip but it hasn't done it yet.

On the whole though it's better than I expected. My Grasshopper was definitely as bad as people made out but at least the lunchbox can go over relatively rough terrain without bouncing clean off the ground and coming back down pointing in a totally different direction!

I'm glad I went with the black shell, a few minutes with fine wet and dry and you wouldn't know until there were scratches until you got really close or your were looking for it. I could even get the plastic polish out but that seems a little over kill for a runner shell. It still looks great on the shelf from the other half of the living room!

The CVAs certainly help take some of the bounce out;  the fronts cva springs are a bit week but at least they absorb some of the bumps - the standard shocks  dont do a huge amount, its mainly the tyres that dampen the lumps n bumps.  Fitting Proline foams inside the tyres will further improve the handling

@nowinaminute @Percymon I have the old CVA's in my lunchie and run 50wt in the front and 20 in the rear. The (front) shocks obviously are limited with that much weight in them but it stops them bottoming out so much and makes it jump more level. A lunchbox isn't meant to handle well, and I don't feel the need to try and improve it. Most of the fun is trying to keep it on two wheels, whether that be the rears, the sides or (!) the fronts. Trying to make it better imo would be taking away the charm.

Thanks mate, those are the ones I was half expecting to get. I asked for 'Colorado' as thanks to watching all your videos I couldn't think of a nicer place i would like to drive my bronco if it were 1:1 😊

I think that about my 4 Tamiya bashers, accept them for what they are with minimal mods (bearings) rather than spend more than a TRF and still not be as good...

Mowed my new backyard track tonight, it should be pretty good. Need to do some work on marking it out and build a few ramps and a tabletop, but should be a laugh this summer with a few of us, far better than I expected to get in my backyard

Went to the racetrack for some practice. Luckily i took my 2 Plasma Edge II's to muck around with my son because I forgot my controller...the TT02B did ok, but one thing that I found frustrating was not being able to correct the car in the air, not sure if it is the ESC (TBLE) not being as good as the trackstar or the chassis. Was still fun, but have some repairs to do as TT02B's don't like cartwheels!

Agreed, the Turbos look far better. Nearly bought some Racing Hart versions for my 1:1 Honda, love them!

Yeah agreed. So you got sun up there aswell?

Today the missus and kids have gone to Grandma's. I shimmed my M04 and picked up some more stock M-chassis tyres last night (and some M04 E Parts) from my LHS. It has rained every weekend (and pretty much most week days) for as long as I can remember. The sun shone so I took my M04 outside on the concrete driveway and had the most fun I have had out of a battery pack in an on road car in a long time. Anyone who has had a M04 or M06 knows that Tamiya recommends to have S Grip tyres on the back, but the kitset ones were just too much fun. I spent the whole pack just provoking oversteer, just enough so I could catch it back and then do it all again next turn. I don't remember my old M04L being this much fun! 😆

Yep amazing day today. My biggest problem is resisting opening a beer, I've wanted to since 11am since its such a nice day and we started in the garden at 8am. By 11am i had mowed the lawn (really tidied up the track...) planted potatoes, weeded the rest of the vege gardens so the next logical step was fire up the bbq for bacon and eggs and have a beer. Except I didn't have a beer :-( went to the track instead :-)

And waiting for my wife to go out with my son so I can do what you did!

You're too energetic!! Sounds a great morning, but Bermans tail happiness wins lol.

Im contemplating how best to glue some rather narrow sidewall tyre to their rims without getting glue fingertips... this will be after I'm back from softplay with the little one during her lunch nap, then it's whisking her off to Chinese language class which is really shout and dance around class for her.

Great looking car, where would you go to find some more unique M chassis wheels like those chrome ones you have?

I have been searching for weeksand apart from Ebay (which seems to only sells Tamiya kit M wheels like Minilites and Fiats etc) I have struggled to find alternate wheels.

I finally searched RC Mart and found a few different ones there ( Active Hobby and Spice brand) but the designs were still limited.

Where are all the crazy deep dish, chrome or just neon wheels for M chassis cars?

I just received my RCMart Order but these M chassis wheels I ordered are still pretty plain :(

Lastly, those S grip tyres, are they the most grippy tyres then for RWD cars?

My M03 tyres just say "Tamiya" on the sidewall, are these kit tyres?

I've seen :

50568 M Chassis Radial tyre

53254 M Chassis 60D S grip tyre

50684 M Chassis 60D M Grip tyre

50683 M Chassis 60D Standard tyre

51427 M Chassis Rally Block tyre

Try Tamiya 53222 m-chassis super slicks.

Tyre of choice when my local club was still running👍 I ran a m04.

Thanks. They are Ride wheels and I got them on sale at RCMart. I have some of the same ones with a higher offset (more dish) but they dont fit under the Alfa body.

The S grip are the best treaded tyre Tamiya makes for the M-chassis. Tamiya also make about 5 sets of slicks for them. The M grip and S grip both have their identity marked on one sidewall with the Tamiya brand.
