Fitted a set of lightweight axles (53939) to my tt02 type S.

In my quest for a lightweight hopped up tt02 I have successfully added loads of heavy bling🙄.

I had spare set of aluminium rear uprights (53938) so I fitted them, but the wheel axles are longer on the tt02 than the ones needed for the aluminium rear uprights. Put a set of universal shafts on front and rear but I didn't like the idea of different wheel axles on the same chassis.

So I changed the front uprights for a set of (51103) from a TB evo, 950 bearings (51090) along with the aluminium wheel axles (53939).

Maybe a backward step in using the older type suspension uprights but it now means I have lightweight axles and aluminium bling😉.

Quick paint job on the Fighter Buggy RX I picked up last week. Got a few spares stickers so should come out ok. Certainly a bit more interesting than the plain flat grey it arrived in. Not sure whether it is a keeper, but I'll make it look fun and see what I think.

Finished my TT02 mods for the moment. Started with oil shocks, rear uprights with toe-in  and front CVDs that I got cheap off Ebay, then went on to add an aluminium drive shaft, ball raced steering and high-speed gear set along with an adjustable motor mount among other things. I also stiffened the front diff. The blue lower deck and Yeah Racing bumper holder were admittedly added mostly for looks.

I finally managed to finish the soldering on the 13.5 Trackstar motor which I have hooked up to the kit Tamiya esc.

First test drive this evening with a NimH was very impressive. Nice speed and handling.

Lipo power is the next thing in the list!

Glued the MST realistic rally tyres to some wheels.  It has not gone well...

You could try the veg steamer for 20 ish mins and then try again?

Yup, I'm going to have a go at boiling the wheels tonight.  If I don't post results by tomorrow, someone alert an ambulance for me because I've probably scalded half my fingers and have melted tyres stuck to the rest.  ;)

I now have a base setup on the TA07, which is as per the manual for most things but ride height at 4.9mm front and 5.1mm rear, and droop 3mm all round. Camber, toe etc all as per manual. That Hudy setup manual is great, I almost feel guilty for just downloading it and not buying a setup station. Almost. Now to wait months for the next race meet to try it out!

I've also started looking at the weight as its a heavy chassis (got funny looks and eyerolling as I disappeared to the garage with the kitchen scales). The minimum weight for the class is 1380g and mine is currently 1456g, so a bit to go. Luckily I haven't started yet so there are some quick gains, and I need a new bodyshell anyway so a lightweight version should help since the current one is 106g.

No need to call the ambulance, but it didn't work.

The wheel is now very deformed and the tyre is just bad enough in one spot to be useless.  I'd try it again with large off-road tyres, but I think on-road aren't worth the effort.

Fitted my M03M Suzuki Swift with a 3930KV brushless motor and Leopard esc, with a 2s lipo and 20t pinion it has reminded me that I need to glue the tyres!

It really flies on this set up...... and rolls

And gracefully slides too

At a guess I would say it's hitting 40mph on this set up.,.. I need to speed check it and then find out where it can sit on the speed run thread.

Been busy shipping stuff to new owners.

It takes me about 30-45mins to pack/build each box as bespoke with added reinforcement, extra side protection, internal and external corner protection if needed. Never just chucked in a spare box with newspaper.

I always do some kind of double boxing. On vintage kits I will usually bubble wrap the parts sprues etc, box, layer of 25-50mm polystyrene board then another box.

Where needed, I use wood reinforcement on the corners.

In the 2nd pic,the card is contoured round the body not just wrapped around.

I had someone send me a vintage nib kit once via special delivery in just the outer kit box and some birthday paper round it. Luckily it came unscathed but meh.

Was that with a steamer or boiling?

Today I got quite a few cars on display finally. Some of the shells aren't Tamiya but all of the chassis's are. I still have about half a dozen chassis' to finish and sit under  those shells with no wheels but it gives me an idea of what it will look like. I need about the same amount of shelves again to get all my cars out but my Wife isn't so keen

Ikea sponsored the showcases :) ? Did you leave the side glass out?

Finished painting and stickering this

Fighter Buggy RX I picked up off TC on a whim. Body came grey and plain, primer basically. Thought I would liven it up a bit and use some spare stickers. Not sure I will keep it but it has come out pretty well

Picked it up on a whim from another TCer the other week. Cane primed so finished it off with paint and stickers on has in stock. Pleased with how it has come out but not sure I will keep it. Don't really need another buggy to look after. It is in lovely condition though. We'll see.

This evening I finally built the oil filled shocks for the other boys DT03. Now we can carry on putting the last few bits together just in time to run them before Christmas. Hopefully!

I did yes, they are the perfect size for the Minis and some of the buggies but for the 257mm cars the sides had to be left off.

Much better than when it left here :-)

Boiling.  I thought about using the steamer but got paranoid about ending up having to clean out melted rubber and plastic if it touched the metal.  Now that I've done it once and screwed it up I'll feel better about experimenting next time.  :D

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height.  Is this what you had in mind?

I've also reached out to you on Thingiverse via you R53JRC user name.
