Started sanding my F350 body. AGAIN!!! The yellow paint was cool but was prone to flaking of when the truck rolled over. Yes I know it should happen but not the way it was going so out came the sanding paper. It will be a lot of blood sweat and tears to strip yet again but I will take my time this time around and do a proper show truck. I don't think I'll be taking it on trails and rock again, I have a completely different idea for it now.

SO that's what I did. Sanding.

What have you been up to?

Cheers

Henk ;)

This evening I had a modest bash around a rather wet garden with my modified Buggy Champ - lots of spins and hanging the back out.

It’s fun but perhaps a bit too unpredictable (for me), so also today I have been adding some finishing touches to the rolling chassis of a Durango DEX410. This should prove an interesting contrast to the Tamiya. <_<

Today I used Tamiya Lacquer Thinner and cotton buds to strip the paint off the inside of my paint-etched :o RA1028 Hilux rear bed.

Also attempted the last stages of my dreaded Frog masking and paint job on the roll bars inside the shell using the Tamiya masking tape, PC5, a touch of X20A thinners, and a drop of Glycerin as an acrylic retarder. I'm getting a bit better at this but there is still no way I would attempt to PS spray this part LOL.

Pic's below LOL.

So what did you do today?

Regards,

Alistair G.

Today I dragged my still in pieces Dyna Storm runner out from its long exile under my bed and replaced the worn tyres. Funnily enough the "Blazing Star" spire spike tyres that the hobby shop sent me that did'nt fit my Blazing Star actually fit the Dyna Storm so I'm happy. It now has rear Super Gripper Spire spike tyres and ridge/spike front tyres. Next I'll rebuild the front end with a part from the donating tr15t chassis.

So what have you been up to today ?

B) Nothing to do with Tamiya. I honed my flying skills on a Nine eagles Kestrel 500sx. Nice fun chopper to fly.

What have you done today?

New Bullhead shell turned up today from Tony's Tamiya (europro975), wasted no time preping it up and giving it a lick of paint!

Stuck the NIP chrome on, Still have to give it a buff up and decal it...

Pretty chuffed

Finished off and painted the roll over cage for my F-150 Desert Racer Truck. Can start on the body paint now that I no longer need the body clear to see the construction of the roll over cage.

The interior still seems like it needs more, but where to fit things like NOS bottle and fire extinguisher, or even a gear shift. Ideas anyone?

Get some silver duraseal or vinyl and stick on a faux alloy plate dash, I'm sure you can find some guage decals somewhere.

Make/cut a harness out of blue/red/black material, use the heads of small panel pins or similar for mounting bolts for the rear.

Mesh drivers side window, use gib stoppers tape painted black.

Fitted an Orion 27t Stock motor to the re re Pumpkin today. Took it down to the coast for some srious on/off road testing.

Inside of twenty mins I managed to destroy 3 body mounts, sheared one front wheel at the hub and broke the corner and a bit off the front bumber.

The motor is a peach and doesn't half add acceleration and top speed over the box 540 unit.

So much so it causes mass destruction ;) One things for sure, the motor is a keeper and the mods will be done to re sort the damage :)

I took the plunge and ordered Lipos and a new Charger. Next on the list is an upgraded brushless system for superfast beach bashing!

Ooo let us know how you get on, I have brushless and a charger, but haven't indulged in Lipo yet

I did an extreme makeover on my DT02:

How I got it:

I ditched the brush eating SS BZ for a Losi LM-32k, best move I ever made.

I got my universal snorkel from RC4WD today, that I won on scale...

Yesterday I won a AX10 from Jarl-4X4RC.NO via a norwegian forum.

I have traveled 300miles today, delivered a car in Oslo, and got back with the bus (boring as heck-bus that is)

Few bits missing still. Damper, tabs that go on the damper screws to limit the droop, fluid bottle, hose and bracket.

I've removed all these from mine to swap back to RR/SC type dampers. Photo is before I cleaned everything.

Snow packed morning of entertainment for me and the Boys. One Midnight (rere) Pumpkin and Lunchbox run for 3x3300 batts. Pumpkin broke 2 body posts and a windscreen in a fight with the garden washing pole, Lunchbox didn't even snap an aerial tube in the -2c conditions. I tell you those Lunchbox bodies and posts are way better than the Pumpkin for standing up to abuse IMO.

Ansmann Master Smacker ran well in 4WD mode, good drifting and great hill climbing. Tamiya 2wd way better for poer slides and overall hilarity.

Nothing beats leaving monster truck tyre tracks in virgin white snow and ice, boy was it fun.

Went to watch Avatar in 3D with my bro and his son. Now I'm home just after midnight and I have to consider sifting through all my RC spares as I have to sell them off, a job which I've been avoiding like the plague for the last month.

Pretty much got my Unimog finished today, still work to do on the body but took it out for its first run in the snow. Wow what a bit of kit! Build was great but VERY fiddly, for some reason it seemed more complex and fiddly than either the TXT or High Lift builds I've done. Even though its much smaller than the TXT-1 and on paper would appear to be less complex than the High Lift its actually a very involved build. You really have to follow each part of the instructions very closely. I had real problems getting the transmition together, I didn't realize there's actually a bit of a design flaw in the transmission involving those two big bearings until I checked online and saw that loads of people seem to have experienced the same problem. In the end I could only get it together only using one bearing but it still seems super smooth with three battery packs through it.

I must say its the best fun I've had with a stock Tamiya kit thus far. The High Lift I had cried out for a more powerful motor and the TXT is laughable as stock but the CR-01 is actually really good fun just as it is. I had it boucing around at fair speed on all the ice covered snow here and with both diffs locked it really climbed pretty well over big hardened snow drfts at slow speed. I am going to mod it though, Tamiya's 35t motor, longer and wider wheel base, decent drive shafts plus some chassis bling and 4WS when I get another decent servo.

Here's some pics of it plus some of my TXT taken on Xmas eve.

Cheers

Toby
