I've discovered there's an indoor buggy club just a few miles away from me. I had no idea until now!

Now, if I go to race, do I take the RC10, Top Force, ProCAT or Boomerang? Or is it an excuse to get something shiny and modern?

(Of course it's an excuse to get something shiny and modern!!)

Tamiya can race!  Depending what surface they're using on the track you could get a TRF-201 with decent results on clay.  It'll be a tail heavy, pushy beast but fun and capable.  That said most are running mid-motor buggies for both clay and turf/carpet surfaces.  The TRF-211 is an amazing buggy and IMHO will hang with any of the other brands modern buggy offerings.  Most of the fast guys at my track are transitioning to laydown transmissions which Tamiya does not offer.

If 4WD is what you're after you can still run big T.  The DB-01 RRR can hang but the TRF 503 is the current 4WD race buggy.  It's quite spendy though!

Those wide wheels look great, much better than the stock ones I had on mine, must be why I sold mine!

Will this take my HCT speed title one day?

I believe I already have your HCT speed title

There is a guy on Facebook doing aluminium chassis to make hybrid mid-motor tamiya 2wd. Uses 201 front and 502 from motor rearward. They look ace!

Did a bit more reassembly on the RC10 last night. Got new CVD drive shafts assembled and mounted. Also built and fitted all of the camber and steering turnbuckles.

It's coming together nicely now.

Bought some new wheels and tires for my CR-01 from Duratrax.. , a Porsche 911 body for my TT-01 and a XB super fighter violet, since it cost close to nothing, due to cyber monday.  The web shop had not yet removed the offers, so...

As inspired by super gripper I painted my replacement hornet shell in FW14 colours. Hope to get some decals with the camels and cannon logos on to finish it off. If not I’m happy anyway. Had a problem with the colours and masking but salvaged it by doing a bit of a speckled fade. Hopefully it look intentional. Overall I’m quite satisfied as my painting skills are primitive.

Posted the Traxxas T Maxx to its new owner.

Ordered rest of sons Christmas pressie (RC controller and servo, 2 batteries and an A2 modelling mat)

Also bough a job lot of Boomerang/Bigwig spares of Ebay that includes just about all the plastic parts needed for Front and rear gearbox and suspension in either with a bigwig chassis and a few of the body yellow parts.

Just need to get a set of Pumpkin tires and I will have all my old models n Running order again.

Today I happily won an Ebay auction for a TL01-LA Beams Integra - model 58293, its pre built with what looks like a brushless system just requiring a radio set.

I nearly went for that myself but bought a Honda City Turbo instead. Was a close call though!

So this post won't be completely accurate since "I didn't do this today". But a few years ago I gave my friend a Tamiya buggy that I found in a pawn shop. I have no idea what model it was, but it was dirt cheap and it had everything ready to run. He has since beat the heck out of it from use, and continues to drive it a lot, even though its seen better days. I don't know what model it is, if anyone can identify it, I would like to know. But I did finally get a picture of it yesterday for identification reasons:

That's a Super Sabre

And the front wheels are on the wrong way round.

The back ones are too and the front bumper is missing. Definitely a super sabre though.

I bought a set of wheels and tries for my old Pumpkin as my tires are degraded to point of coming apart. Reading with interest the Pumpkin upgrades and will certainly get to some of them as well. Love the fishing line to stop back end bouncing so much and the front shock tower brace, both easy both effective.

Also got a couple of model mats, one for me and one for the lad.

Grabbed some time to make a bit more progress on the M03 shelfer chassis. All the stainless suspension pins fitted (no more lost clips), front dog bones in and hubs attached. Front and rear chassis sections attached.

Up to stage 13 in the manual (less fitting the motor)

Might get it finished before Christmas...

Lol someone else who hates seeing wheels on the wrong way!

I had to go to the hardware store today to pick up some stuff for the garden so added some of those toolboxes to sort/store screws and stuff.  Finally I don't have a container of all the leftover screws from builds but have them nicely in separate little squares.  Also combined all my pinions, spurs etc as I have collected a bunch this year for the 4 racecars and realised the other day I have doubled up on the 27 - 30t 48p pinions because my Lazer and F1 both run them.  Now that I have them nicely sorted the double ups won't happen and I will be able to make sure I buy extras.  Need to rearrange my tool box to take all the stuff now but I don't know if thats possible, I may have to buy a bigger toolbox...

I put Bad Horsie grease in the differentials of Gravel Hound.  (For Limited-Slip Differential effect)

One on the left is from 13 years ago.  It's just as sticky.  One on the right is from this year.

R7LECD9.jpg

Above was a bit too much.  It turned twice as hard as a tight ball-differential from Zahhak.

To test, I put a small screwdriver on the drive cup on one end.  With the gravity pulling the screwdriver down, this differential took about one second to turn 90 degrees, whereas Zahhak's ball diff torqued down in about half a second.

2zKbL3T.jpg

For the second diff, I used Bad Horsie all over like before, except on the three-pronged bevel axles (I used regular grease on those 3 axles).  Diff gear teeth are sticky, but the resistance from the axles are minimal.

KPTpc6V.jpg

Now, this diff spun much freely.  It turns about the same as a tightened ball differential.

Stiffer one went to the rear, freer differential went to the front.  Gravel Hound should be a much more aggressive off-roader now.  Less need to dig the car out of the sand.  It's not locked, so it should be fine on the tarmac also.
