Technically today, 4am this morning!

I managed to paint and fit all the decals to the Novafox.  Wow, what an experience, it took longer to fit the decals than to build the thing!!!

Got the little Nikko/ Radio Shack truck running, soldered on new battery connector and aerial. It works really well, gave it to my 4 year old daughter.

Also put sport tuned motor in my df03 to see if any better than the 15x2 turn method motor will see.....

At a glance, I thought you gave something with a 15x2 to your 4 year old daughter, lol... :P

fitted new shocks and shock towers to my WT01, took out the Sportstuned brushed motor and ESC and changed to a 3500 brushless setup and took out to see how it ran.. Massive leap in speed and so smooth on good shocks BUT way to soft, need stiffer springs as even when preloaded to max it to soft.

Set up mu good ladies WT-01 fitting a Silvercan (just to get her started) with a Hobywing ESC and got her out for a play with it.

Bought a Firedragon abused body, 3 Thundershot wheels and tires (one of mine is *******ed)

Bought 4 2300 NiMh batteries and 2 Madbulls. Just need more radio gear now and a Madbull body.

Sold a Blackfoot Extreme body and have it boxed ready to send out on Monday

Need to get a replacement body for the 3rd WT-01

This was over the weekend really but finished today.  I cut the new body for the TA07, the Bittydesign M410, yesterday while watching the cricket (its a shame Pakistan couldn't make a game of it) and then painted it today.  This is a much better job than the other body for this car which only lasted one race meet.

RCParts.co.nz stickers on there since the owner is a good guy who sent me shims from his spares for my TRF102.

So they match, and match the beer as well.  I should ask the brewery for some KAPAI stickers.

Also, added this photo for all those in the northern hemisphere to show you what summer is

What have I done today ?  Learned a valuable lesson...

Yesterday I dropped some stuff off at the tip (for the benefit of our international friends, a 'tip' is a local recycling facility where you can dispose of your rubbish/waste/garbage/trash in an environmentally responsible way).  I saw this empty box sat on top of the cardboard-only skip (dumpster, trash-can etc etc) and took a quick photo.  I posted it on a couple of relevant facebook groups, deliberately implying that the box was full and that I'd taken it home.

A few people reacted as I hoped, with amusement or surprise that someone had thrown it away, and jealousy at my good fortune.  I quickly explained that the box was in fact empty.  Nevertheless, I still got lots of stick in both groups from people pointing out that taking anything from the tip is theft, that CCTV and ANPR would guarantee my immediate and justified prosecution, and that I was basically stealing food directly from the mouths of the children of the poor recycling contractors who work there.

Lighten-up FFS.  It's an unwanted empty box, for a toy car, I didn't take it and no-one died.

Got fed up of trying to get the bumper stickers to stick down on my honda city so I took them off and painted the red lines on instead.

I would have taken it in a heartbeat. I of course would figure out if there was someone there to ask permission to remove such "trash" but I can't see a high value placed on cardboard vs aluminum, so if I didn't find a person to ask, I would have taken it.

I'll never own a Fox, so I wasn't bothered.  If it had been something I did want, I'd have asked one of the staff if I could take it.  Some of the more-useful rubbish is sold on at the recycling centre next door, though there was a complete boxed Scalextric set also in the skip that was yet to be rescued.

It's not that difficult of a build, but the only scissors I had with me, where the curved lexan scissors!🤔😂

The valuable lesson I learned was not about the rules at the tip, I know how all that works. But next time, I won't take a photo, I'll just lob my rubbish on top of it and not mention it to anyone.

See if anything happens!

I'm not sure I could just walk away, I'd have picked it up too. 🙈

Lovely looking cars Jono, pity they are in the wrong hemisphere, you just need some offset wheels now to fill those arches a bit! ( I’m joking, I know that’s a race car and not a show car)

Imagine the F1 Driver head turning in sync with the wheels... or opposite seeing as you upside down? That would look good no?

It's called a recycling center! And I believe you could have recycled it! case closed.

Most tips I've been to have skip rats working there, and I've seen a couple of them flogging stuff at car boots. If I take stuff which may have some value( obviously not talking big money here) I make sure it doesn't have a resale value 😉. For example few years ago I took a Tracy island incomplete and the palm trees tatty, it got the attention of some the recycling professionals so I finished it off! bit petty but there you go!

Hmmm, theres a thought, drivers head turning with the wheels. I have some y leads, just need a micro servo...

Just sorted out the steering on my SRB chassis with a bit help from a hobby shop. Mainly so I can use the stick packs I already have. First time I’ve attempted something like it, happy how it’s turned out. Made a few successful laps around the house so all is well :).

The servo is a HiTech Mighty Mini coupled to the original steering parts with a Losi Throttle/Brake linkage (LOSB4204). The servo is nice and low so the longest servo arm can be used for maximum steering. Going to make something up to seal the clear box on the inside to stop sand getting in.

My wife decided to buy me the Futaba 3PV transmitter while we were there too, which was nice.

Neat set up.

You could also mount the servo across the chassis and connect the steering rods direct to a double ball servo saver arm

Decided with little time for RC I might as well sell one of my Egress re-re kits.

I'll probably regret it down the line, but I'm lucky to get an hour a week for RC these days  :(:(:(

As you all know this HOBBY.....can take over your house, your spare time, the time you have for kids, other hobbies etc etc.

Well after a massive splurge on EBAY and others over the last month my car collection has went from 3 vintage (all my own from way back when) sitting in my sons room to

Boomerang (1 of the 3)

Thundershot (1 of the 3) and parts ordered before I do a nut and bolt clean and restore)

Neo Scorcher - first car i got that pulled me back into the hobby - has a lot to answer for and of absolutely no interest to me anymore. I have pinched the brushless setup out of it for my WT-01 and the radio ear is in my good ladies WT-01 and its original motor is in the Pumpkin (Torque Tuned) and its original ESC is in my sons WT-01

Terra Scorcher - parts ordered to restore

Fire Dragon - parts ordered for a rebuild (its not even arrived as yet and I have ordered the parts I know I need!!!!) picked up in 3 different auctions

3 WT-01's, these are the main bashers for My, my good lady and the eldest lad.

2 Madbulls - not here yet as bought as weekend -Bashers for Nr 2 a 7y old boy & Nr 3 a 4y old girl kids (he has been using my Midnight Pumpkin and wrecking it and am woried about him wrecking his mums WT-01) the 2nd Madbull has a new shell ordered and some pink paint as its for our 4 year old little girl as I dont want her left out and the one I bought has no shell) I have been trying to pick one up at humble money for months but they always went for strong money - both auctions ended within a few minutes of each other and the one I really wanted was up second, so put a sensible bid on first and watched second, even once I knew I had first the second still appealed as it let me sort out both kids.

AND finally my Midnight pumpkin (last of the three originals) and much the worse for having a 7 year old learn using it.

WELL, I needed a sensible area to work that does not involve we outside in freezing garage, not involve me taking over the dinner table as I have been of late and leaving bits of kits, boxes and parts in about 4 different rooms in the house. So looking around I have an upper landing that has a few book cases and a desk......... Well its now my works area. Room to display (sort of as they are at least visable) about 10 or so runners as well as work on em.

Will post a photo later when I next use it. Needs more lights as main hall light is behind me and the desk needs some of the computer display bits removed to give me more free space. I am happy, kids think its great and the good lady just smiled, shook her head and walked off laughing.

I call that a success!

So just a thanks to all on here for relighting the passion, fire, obsession and passing on your old kits, and of course the knowledge and help you have given along the way. I am in so much trouble, can you tell?
