I'm currently sitting in the car waiting for my Daughter to finish her dance class. Seeing as I have to sit here for two hours I thought I might as well pop to my local model shop (Mick Charles Models) for a browse. As is usually the case I was relieved of some money while I was there haha. I bought a hard case Lipo for my daughters Lunchbox so she can take it out once the weather brightens up :) Once again I was surprised to find that their prices were actually less than Modelsport!

Oh and this is the aforementioned Lunchbox :)

Haha you're most definitely not the first one to say it  That photo is from ten years ago. I can wholeheartedly promise you they have since been switched around.

Sooooo it turns out the rather chunky hardcase Lipo doesn't quite fit in a Lunchbox!

I wasn't going to admit defeat and take it back so instead I "modified" the Lunchbox so the battery would fit :)

First I had to remove the lower chassis tray thingy and with my Dremel shave down some of ribs.

I also had to remove the piece of foam from the other side. Amazing how much of a blockage a soft piece of foam can cause!

Once that was done the battery looked like it would fit nice and snug so I bolted the lower chassis tray thingy back on. The battery slotted in nicely but the securing arm wouldn't fit around the rather large casing <_<

A bit of head scratching later and a rummage through my box of bits (followed by some more Dremmeling) and I had this!

Fancy isn't it  However despite its rather pikey appearance it does the job perfectly.

Bolted the lower chassis tray thingy on again and voila!

And with the battery now in place :)

Just to prove once and for all the tyres are on the correct way!

ordered a front set of wheels and customer decals and window masks for my Terra Conqueror so I can repaint this cleaned off original body. I hope it doesn't turn out too nice as it will be one of 4 cars I am planning on selling.

Well, not Tamiya (because they don't make an SCT) but I ordered up a Tekno SCT410.3 this morning.  My boy races a TLR TEN SCTE v1 and it really looks like fun.  I've been contemplating that class for a while now.  I love my TRF 211 but I'm just not doing it justice.  I break it about every 3rd race.  I think I might hone my skills a bit with the SCT.  That'll also put me and him in the same race which will cut my prep stress and marshaling in half.

They are a great bit of kit, seen a few in action and I'm impressed. Tekno also have a pretty good looking 4wd buggy. Does this mean you're dropping 2wd buggy and just running the SCT? Why not both classes? I run  classes at each meet as its a long day otherwise, spending 5 hours at the track for 3 races, especially when one track is the best part of an hours drive each way.

Today I have done some fiddling on the TRF102 based on lessons from last night. I have raised the wing to the highest setting which I couldn't do trackside as I needed a way to hold the alloy tubes. I only had pliers and didn't want to scratch them up, which probably isn't the right attitude! Also loosened the diff very slightly so now it feels like one of the others at the track. Finally my temps were under control so jumped 2 pinions. This will hopefully help with the loose rear end as it should mean slightly less acceleration. Its 73t spur and 29t pinion now, that may be too high but I have a 28t if it is.

Spent all day at an indoor RC club in Ayr, brilliant day. Learnt a few things, that the Novafox, with a 15t motor, is out of its depth mixing it with modern buggies, but good fun none the less , that the F1 just isn't my thing and I was bored after a handful of laps of 2d driving, and that crawlers REALLY do crawl but are actually a nice bit of kit (just need a load more oomph 🙄😂)

Did you enter the Novafox in the 2wd class against modern stuff with brushless, or just give it a run at practice and realised it wasn't up to it? Sounds fun

Painting the Bronco today.  Paint a coat.  Come back inside to browse Tamiya Club.  Paint a coat.  Come back inside to browse Tamiya Club...

I'm just about to peel the masking tape off the body after doing the arches.

I was a bit nervous about how well the PS48 would come out but I think I did pretty good.  There's a couple of small black spots where the black backing has come through on the top of the bumper (look below the F on the Ford logo).  I suspect maybe a bit of soapy water dried out there when I washed the body.  I did three coats and let it dry before backing it with black.

Painted the PS19 Camel Yellow and peeled off the roof masking.

Then just as I was shaking the can of white paint I noticed I had stuffed up.

The front windscreen edges should have been PS19 as well.  I'll leave it to dry overnight and tomorrow reapply some tape.  I think I can get away with using cling-film instead of re-masking the whole thing.  So glad I noticed mere seconds before using the white paint.

Yup it was a good day, if a bit on the cold side.

It was an open practice, so pretty much anything was running at some point, even a few kids with 1/32 on the touring car track!

A couple of Schumacher boys were there too, set the track record etc, absolutely brilliant to watch, and great guys helping other people with set ups, but not good to be on track with a Novafox at that point 😂

Managed a few laps with the novafox and the optima mid, with a top force and @Supercoolnothing 's bigwig though, which was fun.

The only vid of the day worth posting, as soon as pressed the record button, everyone fell over on the track! The old track record holder try g to get it back! (unsuccessfully, record button curse!🙄)

Far too cold to do any more spraying so I decided to finally brave the 2nd seat modification for the Wild Willy 2.

Most of this had to be done by hand with small knife & hand files as both my Dremels died on me ☹️

Still got a lot of filling to be done (which will use all the shell off-cuts currently soaking in acetone, rather than actual filler), and then a bit of additional bracing as this shell will be used not just looked at.

39178778905_8db5ed4e81_b.jpg40077545311_a8b6bee885_b.jpg28297304549_f630c4b6b2_b.jpg26203790028_83bc663b5f_b.jpg

Once I'm happy the shell is sturdy, the Willy in these pictures gets his arms chopped off & re-positioned to make him into a co-pilot 😊
