This.

I am meant to take two 30min breaks (normally only take one) and have wondered if I join the two, how much rc stuff I can get done at work, that I would never get the chance to do at home 😊

I do have a handy comms room I could hide in

I sort of wonder if I can get away with doing a bit of hobbytime at work, we have to take a 30 minute break at lunch where I mostly sit and look on the internet hmmmmmm

I'm lucky in a way because I work in a retail shop but I'm out the back in my workshop or "pit" as it's known so I have a desk etc to work on. Also there's only 3 of us Inc the boss so when there's not much to do during quiet periods it's pretty easy going.

In my opinion, if it's acceptable to use the Internet etc in your break then I don't see why you couldn't do a little RC stuff but I guess it depends on your individual situation. Some people like to act on made up principles rather than common sense.

More good conditions, so more grass running at lunchtime. A LOT of grip on the grass today. Ran buggy wheels on the DT03 for first time in months to see if the grass setup for truck wheels translates. Just a bit! CAT Blocks rear, and some random Mini Spikes on the front I didn't realise I bought. Anyone who complains of understeer in DT03s needs to beef up their tyre selection I would suggest! Mad turn in, grip rolls, turn in oversteer. Pretty wild, and lots of fun!

Also gave Ultra G a run out too. Love this little thing.

I had another internal debate for the 100th time. Which car to get? Boomerang or Bigwig?

... Yes?

Given your modelling talents, though, I think the Bigwig will provide more opportunities to use them ;)

I personally prefer the look of the boomerang. Not sure I'm really helping though

This. This will probably happen :D There's no way around it.

Just ordered a set of high-gloss Bigwig decals from MCI since I wanted both the D I C K Cepek and Pennzoil logos. Now off to get a high torque/speed servo for the steering.

So today we've ordered:

- MCI Decals

- 2 FlySky GT3C receivers

- Futaba S3305 high torque metal gear servo

- Venom 4200mah 7-cell 8.4v pack

Happy Birthday to me :P

Started the list for what I need to complete my 1998 BTCC Nescafe Blend 37 Laguna. So 15 spoke wheels ordered (only found 1 company who make them) , some Tamiya PS9 Green paint (looks to be a spot on match for the car).  Just need some gold paint for the wheels and an interior set :)

Going to get started on it soon.

I thought the Nescafe cars were metallic?

Anyways, today I had my first Lipo scare. Brand new Turnigy car pack, basic, cheap, 2S. Voltage dropped to under 2.5v per cell - my fault, used it in a car which didn't have cutoff / alarm.

Plug it into the charger and it refuses to charge it. "LOW VOLTAGE" says the display and it beeps like a mad thing. I know this of course, that's why I'm trying to charge it!!

Read a few online stories about how you can nurse them back to health.

Set the charger to NiCd mode at 1A and stand by it, in case it bursts into flames!

Fortunately it hasn't but it's now on a Lipo storage charge (balance) and seems to be charging rather quickly even at 1/2C.

So it's in a Lipo bag but if it goes boom and you never hear from me again you'll know why!

Just be careful Chris. I've mentioned the story here before, but my very battery-experienced Dad lost their basement and all the furniture (smoke damage) on the first floor due to a lipo fire. Long story short, hardware (charger) failure

Common misconception 😉 the 1998 car was just plain gloss green. The 1999 car was indeed metallic but looked alot different to the 98 one decal wise.

Awesome job @DrewZthe falcon is one of my all time favourite tamiya cars. Are you going to run her or is she just going to be a shelf queen?

Thanks @Supercoolnothing!  I do want to run it a few times. I've been telling my kids all winter that we're going to build an RC track in our back yard this year. When we have something worth driving on, I'm going to celebrate by getting some dirt on the tires. The kids are excited about the car as I am, so it will be a fun day, them with their Blitzers and their old man with his old Falcon :-)

Did a bit more prep work on half of my vintage Scorcher shells, the idea is that I'll be able to Prime them all at the same time (along with another 3 Scorcher shells not pictured here). Now 2 of these shells have had some horrendous 'modifications' by the previous owners, the shell at the back right is a total scrapper as its had a ton of terrible cut and shuts done so now it's going to lend its rear arches to fix the front wings on the shell centre front... For some reason the arches have been cut to look more like the rere model, God only knows why!

At least once they're cut off it may make it look a bit better if I can get the shape right, so I'm using fine line to try & work out the shape. Not convinced at present.

I crashed my Top Force hard, upside down and backwards. Bent the screw holding the rear shock tower on. Luckily didn't damage the gearbox casing.

So I made a support brace for it, this had been on my to do list but today's incident moved it to the top of the list.
