I cut out my LaFerrari shell but didn’t pay enough attention to the two little side air dams that are attached just before the rear wheels and chopped one clean in half 🤣

I might need to just soldier on with it but now one side of the car will have a two piece air dam!

My Tamiya / Schumacher cobbled together build moved under its own power earlier. A spray job, chassis set up and wiring tidy up is all that's really left

All plastic gears

Schumacher small bore shocks

What I have by now for the F04gt mini build. 2hckxld.jpg

Haha went this evening to our mancave garage, and finally cutted a wooden chassis as a test. Thanks again to help of member yogi bear, the rear axle is almost complete. Front is test fitted and servo and turnbuckles  prepared and waiting for complete f104 front with f103gt uprights, f103 special king pins and trimming of width.

tomorrow I’ll fit the ta05 front bumper. I will try to make the bumper fit somehow. Will update the thread as sson as I collect all parts.

5ug046.jpgAnd added electronics and front bumper, there is a sweet spot in the middle between the esc and RX for the china gyro I have ordered. Even tho no need for it now on nimh and a silvercan. Also the bunper will need trimming as soon as wheels can be installed, and after the bidy arrives

forgotntonorder paint all the time, and went on paint search localy. Did find silver, painted the fabia shell. I can say, I messed it up. The paint is rubish for lexan and so on. But not so noticable as I thought, will be perfect for driving it. Took it for test spin, but battery low and faulty servo. But looks cool.

A rare opportunity of a few undisturbed hours and i could get stuck into the Javelin chassis :). Enjoying every second of this build a very nice piece of miniature engineering. The only little niggles if you can even call them that so far is inserting the pins in the diffs that hold the drive shaft/cups in place are a bit fiddly, and the course threaded self tappers that screw into plastic are very tight so I wound in a machine thread screw in first, getting a good purchase on it with a screwdriver, then take it out & replace it with the appropriate hex driven screw as not to strip the head. Worked a treat.

I also polished the bare metal parts with some car body wax to help them stay nicer (hopefully) a bit longer as this will be a runner.

Finished off the HB817 today which was painting the body and cutting out the last hole. Its now sitting on my stand without wheels as i am getting them Sunday at the track. When I had the choice to take them home last week and glue them myself or have them glued by someone who is good at gluing and he would bring them to the track it was an easy decision. Wheels don't matter - I have no idea how to start it anyway!

Gave the Dragon a run this morning. I love a buggy covered in dirt!

20180920_090554

Doing a bit of front end tuning. I flipped it the other day and broke my 3D printed shock mount so I am back to the original Thunder Dragon one. Gives the front end a lot of grip and weight transfer, so I put a 3mm spacer in the front shocks last night to help that and went down on the oil weight at the back. Seemed to help. Its still a very on the nose buggy turning in off throttle but it's not too badly balanced now. I also got some full spike rear tyres for more rear grip. Also put my new 13.5 motor in which is a much better match than the slightly mental 10.5 I did have in it. Still pokey for an old buggy with a 120a ESC and Lipo though!

And some more driving today, I just enjoy it, ant mention enough how a FF chassis is fun. And also, I get to see how sort of my car looks like while driving haha. The road tires which come with the XB its like driving on ice, indeed it is a dusty spot. Is there a way to know from what year is my XB M03m by serial number?

Received a refund from the shop that I ordered my Mon-tech M10 bodyshell from. Turns out their stock level indicator was wrong, and they can't order one for me. So that is Project LMP on hold for a while...

I meant to do this with my last post, but a pic of the HB817.

Colour scheme matches my TRF102.  I wasn't too worried about the finish as the body will be raced.  My wife told me I should have taken the colour of the heat sink into account as well, so I asked if I need a new engine.  She guffawed which I think means no.

If I want a concours body then I will pay someone to do it - for about $100 they will paint it including the paint.  2 spray cans cost $32, so $100 isn't too bad.  I'd pay another $1,000 if they cut it out too.

A fantastic Friday here, its the final day of the Rock 1500 countdown so a lot of Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath etc all day and settling into the top 10 with a couple of double IPAs.  Good times

After too long a break I made and fitted the servo arm and servo on the Asterion. Re-fitted the wheels, they fit much better this time so I can't have tightened the nuts enough last time round.

Only battery door and rear body posts to go (again) and I can start trimming the body.

Here's what's left of my Team Associated RC12i. Why is it that all the prized possessions of my youth ended up in a pile of parts? Not very many good memories with this one. It was my second RC car after my Falcon. I got it on sale from Tower Hobbies around the time when the RC12L was popular. I think it was $60. The day it arrived in the mail I was late coming home from high school because I was in detention. That kind of set the tone for the whole experience with this thing. The instructions were baffling to me. I had been spoiled by Tamiya so the AE instructions looked like a military report. When I did finally get it running, I didn't really have anywhere to drive it. My Dad drove me 50 miles to the nearest carpet track in the dark of winter while I tortured him with my entire Ramones cassette tape compilation. And for what? I couldn't complete a lap without spinning out! I think I was a pretty good driver, but I could not figure this thing out. I remember one of the older guys at the track telling me I needed 'tiger's milk' for my tires, whatever that was! To this day I have no idea what I'm doing with this car, but I would still like to experience carpet racing before I die.

Looking nice~

The color scheme reminded me of Thunrderbirds somehow.  I like how your dog snuck one of her paws in the shot.

Quite a pan car classic there! It is certainly very different to the Falcon. No wonder you found it a bit tricky!

Like you I also started with a Tamiya off-roader, then jumped in the deep end with a pan car as my second RC. The "tiger's milk" is a traction compound from back in the day. I use the present day equivalent on the tyres of my pan cars, making it far easier to drive them. I too would spin out a lot if it was not for the significant boost in traction provided by the compound.

I hope you persevere with your carpet racing aspirations. A well set up pan car is a true joy to drive, amazingly precise and quick to respond, punishing inconsistency and rewarding smoothness in equal measure. Please keep us posted!

New look for Ultra G. The neon yellow of the previous stickers was quite weak and never really matched the wheels, which was what one as aiming for. Decided to just get a colour I like, and I love orange. Much stronger I think

Grasshopper2 Ultra G gets a new look. Neon Orange instead of green and blue instead of red on the Dress Up Decal Option 2 set from MCI RacingGrasshopper2 Ultra G gets a new look. Neon Orange instead of green and blue instead of red on the Dress Up Decal Option 2 set from MCI Racing
