Today I did complete a important part in my F104GT mini build. Cutting the diff plastics and spacer to fit a M chassis 165-170mm width.

Instead of cutting the steal shaft, I used a F104 hop up Carbon shaft, and borrow'd the short diff axle from my F1, will propbably leave it that way and order a exotek diff shaft for the F1.

A lot of thinking in my mind is going to the body choice of this build. Some research for the 225mm body width has given following results, a Mazda MX5, a Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint 1967 and... a Honda S-MX.

The Mazda body is cheap, 24$, but I am not sure if TC wheels would fit (that I would need), also it is short and no room in front for body mounts.

The Alfa romeo body I have found for about 50$ with 20$ shipping from Germany, a new M06 kit with esc and the Alfa Giulia body goes on RCMArt for 100$ makes it easier to buy the kit.

And the Honda S-MX is a interesting cute looking shell. My wife agreed on this one with a light blue metallic silverish color requested (hmm) and for me it is probably a favorite at a price of 26$. Its a Honda and Tamiya. And I have seen it with TC wheels while browsing pictures of it, even this came to my mind, I have left over a Suzuki swift rear spoiler I could use on this body.

Three quarters trimmed my pick-up body. Wasn’t planning to but couldn’t resist. Stopped before Ingot too tired and made any horrendous mistakes. The ones I did make aren’t too bad.

With some luck I might get some paint on it tomorrow. What should be a fairly simple paint scheme is still three colours (including silver backing). I might have to try smoking the windows too. That would make four colours! Argh!

carbon fibre sticker them as they would prob be a option anyway on the 1.1 car

You mean lay a carbon fibre sticker over the top of the Airdam then stick it on the car, like that side panel on an Audi R8?

Another problem is finding wheels.. thought I had lots to choose from but Mine all have 3+ offset, think I need some zero offset wheels to bring them back in under the arches.. i’m having trouble getting this fitting good in the wheel arches on my TT02 chassis.

I've been putting a couple of things on ebay to offset impulsively buying a Striker whilst drunk-tired yesterday.

I personally love how they look and I like the idea of a vintage entry level vehicle with rear suspension that actually works...to a degree.

I guess I'll have to get clued up on what mods are needed to make it a decent runner now. I think some kind of brace for the front? And the shock towers from from the sonic fighter so I can use CVAs?

Must remember to keep off ebay when I'm semi conscious.

There’s not a lot you can do with the Striker apart from fit a CRP front bumper brace which is easy enough after you drill 1 extra hole in the main chassis and then use a file to elongate the two holes in the metal brace itself.

You’re right about using the Sonic Fighter front tower which is taller than the Strikers And has correct top mounting holes which will allow CVA’s... if you want a SF tower let me know I have a spare or two.

That's about all I need then I guess. Better dampers and make it less breaky in halfy!

Just remembered one more thing, Alloy rear wheel adapters if you plan on running bigger power.. they are from Pragustore sold as for the Falcon which shares that part ;)

As usual, my Tamiya plans were thwarted and after completing several admin tasks, I realised that I wouldn’t have time to get much done on the pick-up shell before the school run.

So I switched to the chassis for it instead. I’m calling it a TL01.5...

Having made the cuts, everything is going to get cleaned up before I get fixing. Hoping I made half decent choices on where to cut the chassis...

Fitted my 'garden spec' body to the top force, manta ray, schumacher parts whore. Black schumacher wing drying overnight.

I'm hoping to vac form a couple of undetrays on friday so I can have a garden run on Saturday.

Very happy with the build, will probably do a box art body in the coming weeks.

I originally planned on a FibreLyte chassis, but I'm to save that for my 2018 Super Astute

I'll check those out! I would like to have a little more power. I was quite impressed by this video, looks like he used a 390 size motor. My brushless Grasshopper would have ended up sideways then upside down before it even got to the first turn!

I probably wouldn't go that high KV but it does make me optimistic about adding a little more zip and it still being usable without destroying itself. I only really use my Grasshopper at the beach now lol.

Did a small spinning test of my F104gt. Some vibrations are there, but for a concept diy chassis nothing strange.

also installed the diffuser back and glued it, since it was laying around after a crash on the F1.

That’s the fastest Striker I’ve ever seen  - great stuff, he has CVA’s up front with some onroad tyres on the rear.. and he ain’t scared to drive it!

I must get a Striker on the Top Speed lists unless you beat me to it ;)

Lol I don't think I'll be going that fast, I don't want to ruin it's pretty face! Just shows what can be done with it though!

I love my Grasshopper but it's really tough to drive with decent power, it's ok on smooth tarmac where worst case it can spin out and the same at the beach but I find with grippier surfaces it just wants to roll over and scrape half it's shell off on the ground. Even just hard straight line acceleration can make it roll. It's hard to explain but sometimes if the rear end goes just a few degrees off centre line during a burst of acceleration, the momentum still wants to go forward so it flips. I've seen that with other cars but only when they approach being 90 degrees to the direction of travel and the tyres dig in. I probably have more fun with the stock 380 apart from at the beach. At least you can be brutal with it then and it stays upright lol.

Did install today the 0.4 high efficiency gears on my F104gt mini build. 21T pinion and 104T spur, gives a FDR at 4.95. On my m03 I currently have a FDR o 4.99, so they will be close.

last setup was 18T/63T 0.6 FDR 3.50

for now I will leave it with 0.4 gears.

All my projects have gone on the back burner for a while due to work commitments, but I managed to get a bit more work done on my daughters 1st rc. This is an original Lunchbox that was in a real state, and is now getting a ‘Go Jetters’ make-over (she is obsessed with them). The only thing left to do is fit some yellow CVA’s which typically I have 14 pairs which are all too long (anyone for a swap?!) it’s even got its own ‘Xuli’ driver, I think she’ll be happy with it.

Glued the tyres on my Heavy Dump Truck. Kinda regretted it lol. It has a 3900KV finned 390 type motor at the moment and before gluing it was surprisingly versatile and manageable. Now it's just a big ball of crazy. I thought between the punch being on 1 and the motor not being a full 540 it would be ok but with the glued tyres it's a snarling monster. Never fails to amaze me how gutsy those motors are and I think it cost about £8.50 from Aliexpress! It wheelies so hard now even from a rolling start that if you try to give it full throttle it ignores the wheelie bar completely and ends up on it's roof.

I only glued them on the outside bead and only a few drops per tyre so I might do a reversal. It was great fun at the beach earlier but everywhere else it requires so much restraint compared to before that it's not as fun. I might put some rubber bands around the inner rims instead to give an intermediate effect.

Took the Hot Bodies cars to the track. Met a friend there with his Losi 8 2.0 and took my HB817. I also took my sons Hot Bodies D413 to give it a shakedown after new bearings all around and a general cleanup. My friends daughter ran the 413 while we ran our nitro buggies and fun was had by all. Just need more track time, I have a long way to go...

Yesterday I finished masking my Mk1 Golf body and got the first color sprayed on it.  I'll do the next color today as the weather seems to be cooperating for once.
