Never thought of using a bag within my sonic cleaner -- top tip!

Although I wonder if turpentine is a bit harsh on the plastic? I've had pretty amazing results just using dish soap to remove the various greases found on RC cars (including the black molybdenum).

My two thoughts exactly!

Uploaded some photos of my boxart Arta Garaiya TB-03:

"But aren't those body posts awfully long?" I hear you say.

Well, yes they are, and there is a very good reason for that. While this shell might be destined for Shelf Queen status, the chassis beneath is not. It races regularly, wearing a generic race blob body shell that is nowhere near as low and sleek as the Arta Garaiya, and thus needs longer posts.

Not really RC related but not too far off either.  A buddy of mine needed some Bruder trucks weathered to use in a video production his company is working on, so I finished them up.  He just wanted them to look less like toys and more like real 1:1 scale equipment.  Fun stuff!

Great looking shell!

How is the TB03 going at the track? What class are you running?

The steel 17t pinion for the rising fighter came in today! :D

Installed it on the motor, motor in gearbox and hookup, looking for a manual online on how to set the 105 esc.....

It ran great, but sounded horrible.... :o

Back to the workbench, a little more grease on the idler gear, but also found the problem I had set the motor in the 19t position. Runs and sounds sweet now in the correct position.

Future mods:

Needs the modification that prevents the front of the gearbox slamming upwards under acceleration, now goes clack clack clack every time.

Paint the body and wing white, and put grasshopper decals on it. :)

Lunchtime breakout with my TRF211 3GL after a couple of weeks waiting for parts

20181113_123638

30 caster front and lowered roll centre rear (plus some grass appropriate rear tyres!) has clamed it right down and given it bags of traction. Loved it. Time to turn the wick up on the motor and ESC now it's not wheel spinning everywhere and nearly grip rolling on turn in all the time!

Thanks!

It is going well - a bit of a learning curve as there are so many more things that can be adjusted on the chassis. I am running 13.5t mod, and while I am still quicker with my F1, the gap is getting smaller.

The car has a totally different feel to the F1 too. The light and nimble F1 seems to glide delicately around the track, as if somehow tricking the laws of physics into turning a blind eye. The heavier and more powerful TB-03 on the other hand seems to hurl itself around the track with brute force, bludgeoning the laws of physics onto submission.

This morning my very dear postman called me, to tell me he had two big packages and two small ones. So I came instead and picked them up, I knew immediately it is a body from rcmart.

and it was the Nissan Titan 1/12 Body for my DF02. A perfect fit on my DIY front body mounts.

2ltmu8i.jpg

also a set of DF02 RED/BLUE springs arrived and a OCDAY 9T Brushless combo, it is supposed to be a 4370kV motor with 4poles. I plan tu run it on 2s first and try some test drives with 3s in hope the df02 hold it together. :)

painting and drive test next!

And today was sunny.

painted the Nissan body with sime hobby paint I found in the garage. Looks good to me.

also these onroad tires make the truck look more realistic.

like how it turnes out from a rising storm to Nissan Titan. :)

Got as far as I could with the 'Socker.

Had to order another 10 1050 bearings to complete the transmission. Rc Bearings showing that they're all ready dispatched so should be here tomorrow fingers crossed. I'd already mugged bag D for a couple to finish the axles!

Loving the build so far, the ability to lock and unlock the diffs via a single pin is cool as is the whole over built feel to it. Should have time over the weekend to do some more.

That makes me want to break mine out and get going! Looking good. Did I see you get the bent lower arms and an upgraded driveshaft? Any other hop -ups on the cards?

Yup, both of those. Not planning on anything else but you never know! It seems really robust as is. It's a great build.

Not had much time for rc fun recently. A foray back in to the shed allowed me to disassemble the front end of my xv01 to prepare to fit some hop up suspension mounts.

The rest of my time was spent looking over what I have, reminiscing and pondering where to go next.

Made a start on the M06.  Chassis is mostly together except for the dampers and electrics.  I'm not sure if I'm going to get some basic oil dampers or spend extra to get the #54000 Aluminium Dampers.  They seem to get a lot of recommendations for the M06 but they aren't cheap!

The body has been given a rough trim to see how it looks.

Get the 54000 Blista... you will need the extra shock shafts that come with the M06 kit. Some m grips (minimum) for the front too, as it will understeer slightly with the s grip rear.

At @Fabia130vRS's recommendation, I got Yeah Racing's 55mm shocks.  $25 was a good price.  Its finish isn't at Tamiya level.  But they won't leak, and they are usable enough.  I'm happy with his recommendation.  I don't think "V-hole" works as they intended, though...  Oil doesn't compress, so I don't think it would make any difference if the piston holes are funnel-shaped or reverse-funnel-shaped.

The front of M06 is as light as the Hornet's front.  Just like the Hornet's O-ring friction shocks, I drained the oil from the front shocks and just use the friction of the o-rings.  Judging from the ultra-stiff springs they included (none of which could be used for M06) these shocks were designed for heavier cars, so I used included Tamiya springs.  I also left out the sponges from the front tires.  (Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of following everything in the instruction... I shall be bold and decide my own darn fate, thank you very much... says a grown man about his miniature car's tire pressure...)

At any rate, if you want something cheaper than 54000, Yeah Racing might be a decent choice.

Rebuilt the shocks on my XV-01, and then sipped the rally blocks down some more.  We're supposed to be getting snow here so I want the tires to clean themselves out and dig in a little more than usual.

Painting my avante body shell today, first time painting, so a little nearvous ofwhat it will look like when the masking comes off, might have some thin areas, some bleed, could have done a better job of the edge trimming... hopefully it comes out ok. Painting the driver too.
