Rotated the tires on my Brat (first time in 30 years by the looks of it). Painted the rims gold while I was at it. I love the 3 piece rim design. It's time consuming dealing with those tiny screws and nuts, but I appreciate a bead lock design that doesn't require glue.

This looks like a photo from one of those Tamiya Guide Books I used to drool over!

If I'm not mistaken there are a couple of Traxxas Slash on the back row on the left side as you look at it.

Indeed there are. Couple of the guys have them to bash about with. They float around the track with surprising dexterity.

My latest Mini fix arrived at midday looking like this;

After getting home removing over spray, heating & re-sticking & replacing decals it now looks like this;

Well chuffed, just need to sort out those body posts now! 😁

I find myself the proud owner of 5 Tamiya F1 cars, only 1 of which I am comfortable racing as the others are all either limited edition models or have rare and hard-to-replace hop-ups fitted.

...So I am pricing up another F1 purchase! :)

What models do you have and what will you buy? The TRF103 looks pretty cool, can be set up for anything but then costs the same as buying 2 kits...

Is this so you can retire the F103, or do you need a second F1 for a different class?

The idea behind this purchase is to have a T car on standby when I attend race meets, in case anything happens to my primary race car that cannot be rectified in the few minutes between races. A lot of the guys have them, and it makes sense - that way you can always get the full value of the day's petrol money, race fees, etc, rather than having to miss a race, or worse, call it quits early due to a breakage.

So far I have a bone stock F103 that I am happy to race, along with a F103 with several period hop-ups including the rare full length upper deck, a full-carbon-and-alloy F103 15th Anniversary Edition, a 6-wheeled F103-based 50th Anniversary Edition Tyrrell P34 and a F104V2 Pro Black Edition with all the hop-ups.

Although no doubt a great car, the TRF103 is out of my price range and if I ever were to afford one I would probably want to wrap it in cotton wool and never race it for fear of marring its perfection.

Nope, I need something that runs well, but is sufficiently down-to-earth for me to run it without guilt. Maybe another box-stock F103, or perhaps a base spec F104 that I can fit with the upgraded F104 Pro II chassis and T-bar plates so that it doesn't break in half so readily.

Another F103 would make sense as I could set it up the same as my current one so as not to have to change driving style when swapping cars, but it is also arguably a good idea to have different cars in the fleet set up to suit different tracks.

Either way, it is a while off. I need to finish the SS resto I am doing for Grumpy Pants, and I am hoping to build a M-07 over Christmas.

@TurnipJF isnt the TRf103 the same as a F104v2 + hop ups?

I didt finish my Fait Abarath 1000TCR Berline Corsa body last night, painted it two days ago in Light gray and white, painting took me bout 2 hours but putting the decals on was like 4 hours or so... and it doenst have that much decals either.

need to press the decals with a hair blow drier again to stic better, also if the light decals come off I just might paint them in the right color.

also the M05 chassis arrived for this body, waiting for upgrades in ball bearings to make it immidiately while building to a M05 ver2

A fully hopped up F104V2 Pro is equivalent to a TRF101 at the rear and a TRF102 at the front. The TRF103 has the ability to be built with either a T-bar or PBLR configuration, whereas the TRF101 and F104V2 Pro are PBLR only.

Attempted to dye the grey wheels on my F104 black with Rit dye (the genuine stuff from usa)

After 3 and half hours of simmering fully submerged in dye.....nothing had happened at all. Literally nothing. They are still exactly the same colour as before - not even darker.

I assume some plastic wheels cant be dyed?

This afternoon I scratch-built a scale battery cut-off switch for Desmond the crawler, plus added a few other finishing details...

I had the same problem with some Scorcher wheels, but other Tamiya wheels have been fine to dye.

I dyed some DT02 Holiday buggy wheels and some Hilux Monster Race wheels and they all came out great.

Bought some paints and brushes so I can try my hand at repainting the driver on my boys Christmas Super Hotshot.

The dishwasher stripped away every trace of the previous paint.

I don't usually bother with drivers but as this one is moulded in to the chassis it would probably look odd if I just left it.

Just placed an order for a sand scorcher, now looking at what customisations. I shall do.

That’s odd... I just sold one on eBay to someone called Lee.

If it’s the same one, then wow what’s small world and hello fellow TC member :lol:
