Now I need to learn how to shade and mix colours haha (as well as paint straight lines) ;)

That looks nice Neil. Like the decals painted onto the suit.

I just stripped and cleaned the second KBF that I got the other day. Now for bearing and re-assembly.

That is pretty good to me!

Didn't do much other than worked 1/2 day, came back and rest after seeing the doctor. Seems just can't shake this throat infection for about a month now. :(

Cheers guys, there's a few things I would have done differently (e.g, flat paint for overalls and gloves) but I'm relatively happy considering my limited skills at painting driver figures ;)

Ordered more parts for the newly acquired m03 and the finishing touches for my tt01. Hopefully everything arrives on time for my first race on saturday B) . Also got all the new parts fitted to my hpi nitro rush only to remember id forgot to charge the glow plug starter so have to wait till tomorrow to finally try to get it started (never let your younger brother lose with a screwdriver on a nitro engine  ) and the fuelling setup/reset.

i got my df01 going again in time for the vintage offroad nationals that start this thursday.

i pilfered my dt02 to get it back on the road.

i almost finished painting my repro jrx2 body for the same race.

pearl paint is weird! stuff lays down like mucus lol.

tomorrow evening is the primer race for the VONATS. i'll be running the jrx2 and a friend is going to run the df01.

berman, excellent job on that driver. i've never even attempted to paint a driver, i learned long ago with monster models that i suck at that type of painting.

Been a busy boy today, managed to book me n my brother and 3 mates a Snowboarding holiday (5 in total) so just paid out £600 in deposits for all of us, good news is as i paid all deposits I only owe £76.50 towards my holiday cost now (YAY).

New snowboard boots arrived today in post, so been breaking them in stomping round the warehouse in them picking parts, should make things easier/less painfull while im away.

Cheers

P.S. for those interested (in case any TC members are there at same time), we are off to Ischgl in Austria on 8th Jan for a week, went there last year and it was mint, like Ibiza but in the mountains, SWEET!

It's been quiet on the car front lately. I'm in the middle of too many resto's and still have one or two with which I don't even know where to start - an old, beaten Wild Willy which needs much TLC and a various Manta Ray/Super Sabre/Terra Scorcher chassis that need stripping/finishing. It's that Scorcher that had me buying ingredients today. I'm still looking for a solution for re-whitening yellowing parts (Terra Scorcher Wheels), and this forum led me to read another forum (some Amiga 500 group) as they seem to have the solution (Retrobright). So I went to my local store (for local people) that sells everything and I bought some Hydrogen Peroxide (3 different strengths) and some Oxyclean type of detergent powder. While I was there, also bought some brake fluid, Acetone, wet/dry paper in three grades, Marigolds, box of latex gloves, white gloss spray (acrylic safe), cheap toothbrushes, and a hair brush. Like I said, the shop sells everything - well almost. It didn't have the U.V. bulb I need for the whitening process.

Anyway, once home I just set about cleaning up the Juggy's shell with a toothbrush and sanding off a fair amount of the original paint. It's destined for the dip soon. Also tried removing some paint from the old Hornet shell, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Might just buy a new shell.

So started reassembling the King Blackfoot and discovered I didn't have the number of bearings I thought I had. ;) Bummer, now I had to order these pesky and very expensive little wonders. Can get 100 on Ebay for about ZAR265 but my wife is not to happy with this. Same lot of bearings here will set me back ZAR2600. That way she won't know I'm getting them but dang, very expensive over here for such a simple piece of kit. So now the gearbox is waiting patiently to get assembled.

I fixed my thundershot, my A5 brace arrived so now I can chuck it about a bit, then stuck a set of drift wheels onto my old Falcon, took it for a spin and shattered the drive cups, oops, and modded the body mounts on my sons Nikko Scooby so the body sits really low, then resoldered the motor connections as they looked very weak, now it really shifts.

I got back yesterday from Taormina Sicily, and it was a sad day as me and my girl really like the town!

In the end I missed my cars and to fiddle with them. Now I'm back and

on saturday it's the annual Hobbyfair here in Stockholm so I'm up to my neck

in things to do. I'm only showing 4 cars this year...

In Taormina Sicily I found Twinsets new logo!!! :D

Today I've mostly been stripping paint - again. The Juggy's cab has been in the dip for a week, but the paint isn't exactly falling off. Each day I go over it with a toothbrush, and the most I've accomplished is to exposed large areas of pinked up plastic under the red paint. Is Tamiya acrylic spray that resistant?

The brake fluid has worked quite well on the Hornet shell though and the paint just falls away from that.

The Wild Willy shell is starting to look better, although needs more work. All sorts of paint have been used on that poor thing in the past, but I think I've made it through the most offending stuff. The driver, who needs an arm, is currently floating in the dip.

And since it was sunny this morning, I set about whitening my Terra Scorcher wheels Retrobright style! It has worked, although the one offending wheel is still a little off colour when compared to the other three.

I bought more tools for my resto projects. Funnel and sieve, as I need to strain the brake fluid, I bought more brake fluid, some caustic soda, ear buds, kitchen roll, transparent container with lid and deionised water (for the whitening), and a small parts box, as you can never have enough of those.

I also gave another coat of white paint to my Mad Fighter body, although this isn't going as well as I'd hoped. Because the Mad fighter has an orange plastic body, the white automotive sprays (acrylic safe, apparently - primer and gloss) seem to mix with the orange and come up off white or creamy in colour. The plastic itself is not harmed, but the finished colour is wrong. Anyway, tomorrow, I'll give the body another wet sand, and if the weather holds, maybe go over it with another coat of primer. The gloss doesn't apply well, is too thin and liquid, and just runs.

Tomorrow I also hope to finish off the Hornet body and clean up the Willy driver.

Today I've been changing spur gear and cleaning and re-greasing my ball diff in my old hummer M1025. Took it for a test drive and found that I'd messed up the old speed controller servo a bit. Fixed that and had a blast in the woods - some 35 minutes drivetime on my 3500 mah LiPo with lots of "pedal to the metal" - love that car!

So, what have you done today??

Repairing breakages after a TC meet.

The DF02 Touareg is getting new boots. The 1.9 crawler tyres look nice and scale, but way too much deformation both laterally and longitudinally to be really any use - especially on anything other than sand or mud. Have a set of Dark Impact wheels and tyres on order which will be much better.

Monster Beetle nose cone got resanded, reglued and reattached, and hopefully will be less inclined to drop off!

Resoldered the links between ESC and motor on the Blitzer.

Stripped down the Slash to investigate why it was making such a horrendous noise during this mornings bash, to discover there were no teeth on the spur gear. At all. Haven't a clue what's caused this, but given the surface we were running on, I'd imagine the culprit was a stray piece of grit that found it's way into the gearbox through that ridiculous gap in the drive shaft cover. Will be cleaning out, re greasing and patching that hole once the spur gear, courtesy of Wheelspin Models arrives

The Falcon was awesome as ever and suffered no gravel related ill effects at all, except for a tub full of gravel.

Saturday:

Built and painted a Tamiya Monster Beetle Junior

Rebuilt my Cyclone TC

Painted a new body for the TC

Sunday:

Went to the local track

Ran my TC and it was nicely balanced

Ran my F104W Wolf and it oversteered

Changed the Spring on the F104W and ran it again, it oversteered

Changed from grease on the friction plate to shock oil on the F104W and it oversteered

Changed the T bar on the F104W from standard to ' High Traction ' on the F104W and it oversteered

Had 3 cigarettes and scratched my head a lot

Lowered the ride height on my F104W and it oversteered

Ran the TC and it ran perfectly

Changed the shock to a HPI Cup Racer shock on the F104W and it oversteered

Ran the TC and it was great fun

Covered the front and rear tyres on the F104W with Paragon traction compound and it....worked perfectly for 3 laps, then it oversteered

Pulled some hair out and had a cigarette

Ran the TC again and it started raining

Did some more painting...

Nissan GTR R35 body painting complete in gun metal, looking good. Wing mirrors and tail mould lines sanded, holes in wing mirrors filled, coated in fine primer, and awaiting colour.

Did some masking and painting on my Buggy Champ, but unfortunately had a run in the chrome yellow paint I was using. Waiting for that to dry so I can sand out the imperfections.

Chrome yellow is a nice colour. It makes me happy. Or maybe it's all the paint fumes.

Reassembled the King Blackfoot gearbox and fitted CVA's at the rear. Chassis is in one piece again and will get treated to a gearbox later on today. Very excited to get this one going again.

Just tinkering mostly, since I've not got anything big to work on. The Juggy cab is still in the dip - progress is slow on that. The Willy driver has cleaned up really well after a short bath in caustic soda solution. But he still has gold boots and a gold glove (still only got one arm).

Added a bit more oil to the Boomer's front damper as it just kept locking. All smooth now.

After seeing the results of the Willy driver in the caustic bath, I thought I'd make up a new solution and dump the Super sabre wheels in there. For some odd reason the previous owner had given the wheels a thick coat of dark blue paint, but I'm glad to say that it fell away after a few hours in the dip.

Gave the Mad Fighter body shell another wet sand. Rethinking the colour scheme as the pure white idea is falling flat, due to the white coming up cream when dry. Thinking of a blue/white Rough Rider scheme..
