Painted some 1970s inspired rally drivers to fit inside my M06 alpine. Were a pain to cut to fit as not a great deal of room under the body shell.

Visors were made of styrene sheet.

Built another 3 Buggyra Fat Fox chassis this morning, took my CC01 Defender out for some trail action after lunch with  2 other CC01 owners and started the body of my Blitzer Beetle! A proper full on Tamiya day. Happy New Year!

more like the last few days:

Enter comp with a dubious link to boxes.

Painted and built a Wild Willy that I bought on the 27th.

Did a test silver coat on a HPI Audi body. I have the Tamiya version, but its black and I was looking for an way to avoid removing the paint so I can do box art. I wasn't too happy with the final result of this, so I think I'll just have to suck it up and remove the black paint.

Audi A4 STW I want to make box art. I do like the black though.

Over the last few days I have also been tidying my garage. I eventually uncovered my vac former to retry some vac forming on simpler shells than the Ford Escorts I'd tried before.

I see Jason Statham behind the wheel of this in the Transporter movies 👍🏻

Just add some shiny chrome rims too 😁

Done a bit of sorting in the spare bedroom/hobby room/man cave.

Made room so that my boys Christmas Super Hotshot and King Yellow can fit in there.

I was "helped" by one of the boys, which meant lots of "what's that dad?" and "how many cars have you got dad?" type questions.

All the time I'm hoping the other half isn't within earshot

Took ‘Rex and the family out for another walk in the woods. Have watched a few YouTube videos on crawling (not rocks) and found lots of places that are challenging but doable.

Need a second car now for the boy (or girl or wife) to drive so we can have little competitions.

Need some 1:10 tape or marker cones now

Took my dn01 out since it was 60 degrees here today. I hit the throttle got to much grip spun out and slammed into the curb of my neighbor. Not really hard or fast so im thinking the arm was already cracked which was an issue 2 years ago. I have 2 nib dn01 rear arms but apparently there is no reinforced rear arms for the trf 201 like they have for the front which i have a set. I ordered the high traction rear arms, does anyone know if they are reinforced?

Sounds like one of those 1:1 Mustang fail videos I've been watching lately!

Charging some batteries for the first time in a while, going to take a select few to the park down the road. Might put some sunblock on today, got a bit crispy yesterday just washing the car! 😨

After tiding and cleaning of the man-cave, inspected the Konghead to see if it will fit a hardcase lipo and made plans for a customised body.

The lipo fits no problem. Squeezed just fine into the tray.

I did notice quite some free play on a front axle. So inspected it and looks like the previous owner forgot something.

No biggy, it will get a full ball bearing conversion anyway.

The 54142 TRF501X arms are a straight swap and they are carbon reinforced. Even stronger than the DB01 high traction arms (any of the DB01 rear arms will also swap straight in) if forum chatter is to be believed.

The 54142 is what i ordered and are listed as db01 high traction. Is it possible you mixed up the part #?

disregard above, tamiyausa says they are, high traction and carbon reinforced

Must have been a mix up on the discussion I was reading. 54142 is listed in the 501 and 511 manuals. The TRF cars didn't start using the all plastic DB01 51313 until the 502. I have a set of the reinforced arms in my spares box. They are incredibly stiff compared to the DN01 arms. You can't get them to move when you twist them.

Turns out the last run with the Dragon the shock mount screws dropped out. My own fault as they have been baggy since they pulled out at the track. New front gearbox plastics.

And also, stumbled down a 'I wonder if that fits' rabbit hole....

TRF501 DB01 TRF201 rear arms on a Tamiya Thunder Dragon using DT03 hubs.TRF501 DB01 TRF201 rear arms on a Tamiya Thunder Dragon using DT03 hubs.

TRF501 rear arms, DT03 hubs. Loose fit up but it does seem to work. Hub is loose on the 2.6 pin in the arm so I will have to commit to drilling it to 3mm if I want to run it, but it's interesting. Would massively improve the geometry and stiffness of the suspension.

Masking off the window trim on my MF-01x Beetle.  I was going to stick with the window trim decals from the kit but I just don't like the way they look, so paint it is.

Some time ago I got inspired from a thread I saw somewere over here, where a Clod Buster had it's steering servo's mounted between the bumper mounts.

So I made some custom bumper mounts/servo brackets, and coupled that with 10mm thick and 12cm long aluminium tube.

This prototype is made from white PLA, the final product will be black ABS.

Gave a test run to the Thunder Dragon with the TRF rear end. Went really well so I think I will be sorting mounting the hubs properly.

Ordered a couple of little bits too. Finally found some spring collars for my aeration shocks. Also got some DB01 spares coming off a mate. Now the TRF arms fitted the rear of the Dragon I have to know if the TRF front end will go on too!

My Lunchbox Assistance truck theme has officially been taken as the next project! At my friends garage I fitted the roof light and front led lights into their holes. Some hot glue and finished! Only test fitted on the new shell, it needs paint first! Then wiring!
