KBF Matt. My thoughts were more towards 35t motor for some nice slowish trail running. The great thing is that with 2 trucks I can share the fun with my son. So the less speed, the less damage we can cause.

Hmm interesting. You thinking of locking the rear diff, given you're only on 2WD, or is the terrain you're planning on not going to be severe enough to warrant it?

No Matt, nothing to challenging. Just like the stuff on here http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...6&sid=22744

The idea is to maybe sell of some kits and other buggies to fund 2 axial trucks for me and Neo. Those will be used to do the harder crawling stuff.

Aaah good plan. If you've never run an Axial before, you'll love it. Going for SCX10 Honcho or something similar?

Torn between a SCX10 and the Honcho. Best would be a one of each scenario. One will have to be sporting a Clod shell though. :P

The honcho IS an SCX10 ;).. From memory there are three editions of it. There's the original SCX10 with the 50s style pick up body, the RTR version which has a Land Rover type shell on it, and the Honcho. All three versions have exactly the same wheels, tyres, chassis and running gear, so the differences are merely cosmetic.

I really must stop talking about them, or I'll end up going out and buying one. :)

There's wheelbase differences too, the Honcho is the longest. The Honcho and Land Rover are available RTR. I think the RTR's have plastic links and the kits have metal. My Honcho was a kit and it's a very capable beast.

Back on topic, I've been fitting GPM bling to my TXT-1 :)

Thanks Matt, their part no makes it difficult to decide which is which. I did pick up that there are some subtle differences.

That was what I could gather too. So get the kit, pay a bit more but get so much more.

And back to the topic. After about a year and a half of hard labour and a lot of brakefluid and sandpaper, I can finally say, my once flourescent King Blackfoot shell is now ready for paint. Just need to fix the left front wing and I can start laying down the primer. I am so relieved as I was at the point of throwing the shell away and getting a Blackfoot Extreme shell.

Paint stripping? Meh. My Juggy cab is still in the brake fluid but I think it's as good as it's going to get. I think I'll remove it now and throw bed in there.

Started the restoration of the old Super Sabre running chassis that's been sitting around for a couple of years, at least. I'm not sure whether I should keep it as Super Sabre and a full restore, or do it up as a runner Boomerang, since I still have plenty of Boomerang specific parts left over from that restoration.

Anyway, I've stripped everything and cleaned it all in detergent, although the insides where very clean with little grease and no wear. Even the bushings looked newish.

As usual, I had a complete nightmare with the C clips that hold the output drive cups in place, losing a couple in the process. I thought of replacing them with E clips instead, as per the 2008 Boomerang, but the gearbox wouldn't close. It turns out the drive cups of the new and old Boomers are of different designs. This was not mentioned on Tamiya101. So I've ordered a new set of internal gearbox parts and that contains at least a half dozen C clips.

If I keep it as a Super Sabre I'll need to find a body set.

Another night on nightshift, I hope I don't sleep in past lunchtime.

I got up today at 2, watched tv and ordered parts for my tt-01 and paint for my three shells.

Today I took my Super Clod for a run in the creek bed. Thanks to recent rains the creek has been flowing creating a brand new somewhat muddy terrain which was good value. The Clod looks like it drove through a chocolate mud cake but it was worth it ;)

Tackled my first Tamiya model ever today - in reverse !

Sounds fun Percy, be up and running in no time once those bearings come in. Kevin, I ordered some parts yesterday too. lol. A "B" parts tree and a gear set for my TT-01. Paint came in yesterday too, and hoping for the new shell to arrive!

Went fishing for a little while early in the AM. Caught a crappie (in the photo), a few perch, and a bass.

Cold, but still fish to be had. Nice to take a break from the grind. Sun was just coming up over the hills, and shinging bright on the fish.

Finished building the chassis of my "Prized" TRF201. Waiting on Castle Brushless 5700kv motor/esc to install....

This thing is light, and really well made. Most modern Tamiya I've built. Well done! NO SLOP in the steering at all! Amazing!
