It started snowing again, so I took the Dark Impact for a spin

EDIT:

It continues snowing, so I replaced the tyres with some brand new Super Gripper Spike Tires

DF03_snow2002.jpg

But, Jesus, the 53092 and 53093 (6024 and 6069 "4WD Spike Tires") are hard to fit on the 53728 4WD Off-Road Dish Wheels. I heated them on the toaster to soften them up just before fitting - Abandoning any idea of foam inserts in the process. Shouldn't these tires match the rims?

Well, once fitted, the Spike Tires worked fine:

Cruised up to the Borgfeldt Canada warehouse to have a defective receiver replaced.

Best. Office. Ever.

At least three R/C cars on every desk.

Gave the Mega Monster Beetle some TEETH, and sharpened the Falcons claws: Falcon now has a 13.5T brushless motor instead of the 17.5 it had, and the 17.5T has gone in the MMB replacing the brushed 550. Putting the twin brushed 550s back in the ModClod, and having a re think about the body for that. The El Camino is a nice shell, but just doesn't look right perched up there. May get a Proline F100 shell and do a Mega Midnight Pumpkin? Will need to chew that one over me thinks.

I was out for Xmas lunch with my former employers, had a few drinks then went home for a kip before work. Started here at 9 and in again til 7, then I'm out tomorrow afternoon for my mates 21st in the west end of Glasgow. I'm desperate to watch an episode of Lost and paint my cossie shell :)

Worked, hung out on TC, cooked up some sausages, now watching some youtube and reading TC posts. Oh, and also reading up on sports cars. :) Glad the weekend is here, found another part time job, for the next few weeks, which is going to pay for my recent hobby buys. Spent dinner with my parents too, which was nice!

Mike_o, pictures and video are very cool! Didn't your i-pod drown?

You think you'll finish it this weekend?

Not likely, I need to find a suitable time (ie when wife is out!) to access the dishwasher to clean up some of the old plastic parts. Plus load of new furniture arriving Saturday which means a few hours rewiring the home cinema kit.

Greg, thanks. The Ipod has proven nearly indestructible. I originally bought it due to it's low weight as I intended to use on an hydrofoil boat. On the maiden voyage the boat submarined a couple of times, but the cam just kept going.

. The Ipod was below deck recording vertically through an open 10 mm hole in the hatch into a 45' mirror. It did get it's share of water.

Later when I learned to drive the boat, I had fewer accidents. But I learned the hard way that a flying hydrofoil with a surface prop and vector steering can neither brake nor turn (when power off). That learning curve took the boat some strange places :-)

I see Percymon. Hmm, what about getting up earlier than her and getting the parts in the dishwasher before she notices? Maybe you'll have some time around the holidays?

Mike_o, nice videos, I watched part 2 also. 3/4 of the way through when it went under, I thought it would cut out! Pretty impressed at the durability of the ipod. Nice hydrofoil and placement of the ipod. Never saw anything quite like it. Nice spot to drive it as well. I know what you mean about learning curves! it's half the fun though. :)

Nice thread link too, cool to read up about the design and some history behind it. Not sure if I would have been brave enough to swim out into the ocean in winter...twice! :)

Today, I have been scouring the internet for a periwinkle ps spray. Still no luck. Tamiya makes like a light purple that is pretty cool. The next 1/10 body, I think it going to be sports car in purple...last night i thought green or blue. decisions decisions. Other than that, worked half a day, and cooked an omlette. hope you guys had a good Saturday too!

I ran a couple of my TB01's around the garden with my son, Focus vs Evo VII in the snow again.

I had to replace the old Kyosho motor in one of my TB01's as it decided to give up the ghost and melt down on me. It was about 15 years old and to be honest I hadn't run it in anger in years. Looks like the plastic end bell broke up and the bushes disintergrated.

Hmmm, the lovely smell of burning electics.

I built more of my Lego kit up but there's two small parts missing so I'll need to order them along with a replacement sticker set. I also went over an picked up a set of alloys that were left for me, I should be able to sell them on eBay on the next free listing day. £200 for 17s and I have a set of 14s to chuck too so that should be a nice earner.

Sent a parcel to Articfox with a original hornet shell and gear case inside, got cold taking my dog for a walk in the snow and raced my 1/14 Nikko Mini around the house.

It's the technic silver champion f1 car that I'm building up. I had it years ago but took it back as there was a design flaw and I never got it Shan after the correction. It popped into my head last week and I want to get all my old Lego kits out the loft - I'm going to need a toy room! lol

Today I cut my lexan manta ray shell, first time I've handled lexan never mind cut it. Very pleased with results. Won't be painting it in this weather but the resto will be ready for Xmas day for son to have a blast on, whilst he thinks about building the new rising storm.
