Today I finally got the exhaust flexi replaced on her car, cleared the computer of the system Defragmentor virus, tidied all my Xmas stuff away in my room in preparation of the dog coming to stay with us for a week then had dinner and came to work. Last ever nightshift in here then I've got three day shifts and I'm back to being a free man! :)

Built up a new TB-01 kit - no electronics or paint/decal yet, but otherwise complete. Nice way to burn a few hours on a snowy day. Did the same thing two weeks ago with another TB-01 kit I picked up cheap on Evilbay for exactly that purpose.

I actually have a 3rd one I might build next weekend ... so it may be a case of ... Tamiya Neurosis? Buy, build, stash, repeat.

Just finished redoing the threadlock on my Buggy Champ. Noticed I'm missing a screw from the gear cover and a nut from my servo saver. :) Can't replace them until I get back to the UK as I didn't bring spares with me. ;)

Got a 1949 land rover running today, I doubt it has been ran for nearly 30 years, It was a tad smoky and noisy (no exchuast )

I have 4 battires chargered ready. I wander what I will be doing tomorrow?

Todays Kent Bash gave me a good chance to test some of the on going mods to my AX10 based Lux scaler, and well.. they didn't work very well . The 3Racing drive shafts are a gnats too long and with 2.2 wheels on the Xtrail chassis there is quite a steep angle between shaft and UJ resulting in some rather odd noises coming from the AX10s transmission. If you're a fan of Futurama, think of Zoidberg and you'll know exactly what I mean. These would be fine with the standard Scorpion wheelbase and droop suspension set up, but with a scaler it's a no no.

So.. I've gone back to a 1.9 set up. Used some 90mm buggy shocks I had lying around to get an idea of how things would look once some more purpose built scaler shocks arrive. Also filled in the mount holes in the bonnet and made a mount bar with some velcro attached. Again, a temporary measure because I've got some small button magnets from ebay (10 for about £3.50 poseted!) which I'm going to use for a more "stealth" method of mounting the body.

The result (which is still very much a WIP, as all custom scalers are :( ) I'm actually really pleased with. Much more scale looking, and there's certain agressive look about it that I really like.

I also have a whole host of different wheel and tyre combinations which will suit various conditions too - and these are 1.9s too (and yes the wheels shown are 2.2s, but the Proline Dirt Hawg tyres have a much narrower wall and the over all diameter of wheel and tyre is the same as a 1.9 wheel with a taller wall tyre)

Started the WW2 build. 1500 grit rubdown and sprayed a second coat of TS75 Champagne Gold on the Pajero. Shared the love of some YouTube trail vids with my Dad online. Couple of posts on TC.

I ran my Desert Gator with Graupner Speed 500VX and modded Stadium Blitzer rear wheels.

The Speed 500VX, which is a real bargain at 9.9EUR, is a powerful, high quality motor, but gearing options on the DT02 are a bit to limited if you don't help by changing wheels.

Ordered what i hope to the be the last few parts for my Hotshot resto, found some possible union jack decals for one of the bodies.

Generally spent time Tamiya'ing <_<

Finished the Buggy Champ a couple of weeks ago! Came out very well... Body painted pure white, chrome yellow and bright red.

Now onto building my re-re Hot Shot (for a runner) and Sand Scorcher.

Well i have wired up my 8.4v and modded my chassis to get one to fit. Might need the demel yet though!

I took it round the garden with the silvercan and it was lifting the front.

I think this picture sums it up:

Must try harder - not enough mud by a long way !

Good to see people put them to use :)

Bought a can of Fastrax Rally Blue for son's Rising Storm - this is the third can of colour, so hopefully this is the one !. He wasn't happy with boxart cherry red (too pink) which i'd put with the kit at Xmas, decided he wanted blue so bought blue, then realised the decals are the same blue so will be lost on the car !

You live n learn (hopefully !)

Postie delivered steel pinion for Hotshot resto and a set of Ansmann Racing buggy wheels for bashing. Check where my EZRun system (just leaving HK according to the tracking system)

Filled in a few nicks and dents on the original Hotshot wheels, ready for sanding tonight and hopefully black and chrome painting at the weekend.

What's next ? - researching my next project !!

Last night I put my brushless system in my HPI Cyber 10, only to test it out and find out the Diff's are not tight enough.

Heres to spending tonight taking it apart to tighten them down some.

Packed over 85 items today for shipping via collection by Royal Mail (we have business account with them, they collect everyday at 4.15pm).

Just also been working on my Kyosho "Nitro Sideways Sprint car" project, originally they were electric but i was lucky enough to be Given a rolling chassis with engine from Kyosho Europe on my visit to them last year (im still trying to pry that new built Ferrari P330 from his hands LOL). It came with brand new wheels n tyres fitted (which are worth a penny on their own)

Anyway looking at the chassis it seemed obvious what it looked like and so i grabbed a NIP Sideways body/wing/rollcage and driver from the unit and stuck a set of my repro Sideways decals with it and thats what im working on.

So far it has automatic starter system on it (which works now woooooo) but engine needs stripping and rebuilding really as its a bit gunked up, also needs a bearing set fitting on drivetrain, so when i get time i will add those for smoother running.

Apart from that its an easy night tonight, got a few DVD's to watch, so feet up, beer and peanuts and thats my night

Had a productive day yesterday! Fixed the lights on the Thunderfoot, and also found that the steering servo horn had a crack in it which is why the steering wasn't working properly.

Did a load of scaler mods to the Mega Monster Beetle including fitting the original style tyres to the Axial 2.2 beadlock wheels, a Proline baja light bar, a set of roof rails and spare wheel to the roof, and of course fully fitted with working lights. The MMB also now has a Willy!

Took my modded Dirt Thrasher to the local park, and razzed it round and round up hill and down dale until I had burned through 3 Nicad packs.. It was great fun and my yellow oval blocks survived the tarmac and thankfully mostly ran on the grass.

It was a maiden voyage for the buggy, and the first time i have used an rc in about 15 years, i dont know why i left it so long... cant wait for the next run!!

So what have you been up to today?

Got the M06 standing on it own four wheels today.

I finished assembling the gearbox & got that bolted in place, fitted the steering rod & remaining linkages. I've stripped & rebuilt the TRF M shocks for it with new Ti piston rods.

Fitted some body posts, drilled the holes in the 911 shell & got that sitting how I like it, cleaned up most of the cuts & edges of the 911 shell too. It's almost finished now apart from painting the shell & powerplant. I'm still waiting for the 3000kv brushless to arrive before I can go much further.

I also cleaned up all the cuts & edges on another Mini shell, then began drawing layout lines on it for another custom paintjob, but this one is a commission for a friend.

Cut the first of the hotshot shells from it's mould, not the easiest !, drilled out the holes for the aerial,, spot lamps and body mount clip.

Finished the build on the styrene rear wing to partner the second body.

Painted the spotlights ready for install.

Painted the lettering on the tyre Walls of the original block Tyres and finished prepping the wheels for painting.

Oh yeah, bought a clod on eBay.

Went to the local indoor carpet track with my (now 4WD) TA04 and had a ball. Even if the front one way diff sure takes some getting used to - I better find a normal diff somewhere now....

Apart from that, the car was quite well set up, and keeping up with several cars a decade younger and BL motors. Of course others seriously smoked me, but being a novice on-road driver with a garage find 15 year old chassis and a 9 EUR brushed Graupner 500 motor, I was quite pleased. I think that the work I did while running it RWD only must have helped find some sort of inherent balance.

Not being sure of how the TA04 would perform, I had also brought a DT02 with lowered suspension and on-road tires. I ran a battery through that one as well, and had another ball. Smoking a couple of 4WD rookies, the DT02 earned some respect. With 11.1 volts it was one of the fastest car down the straight, lifting the front every now and then :-)

Changed the wheels and tyres on my Axial AX10 Hilux scaler AGAIN. I think I've finally found the look I'm after. It's also given me a whole load of inspiration to tidy up the rest of it. The rear end and fabbed front bumper / skid tray really does look shoddy, so back to the drawing board!

*update*

I've glued the rear bed back on to the Hilux cab and after some fiddling around yesterday decided that I'm actually going to use it as the shell for my next Axial project. I can't get the body low enough down without it fouling on electrics.

For now, I'm using the old Betty shell that came with the Scorpion, with a view to getting myself a Proline Chevy Blazer body. Correct wheelbase, and the "van" style shape of the body will give me more room to fit stuff!
