Finally got some time to myself & went down & did a bit more to my on going Re-Re Scorcher. It actually looks like one now. Very happy w' the wiring job in the radio/battery compartment. I think I may go down & take the wheels off my grasshopper & put them on it to make it feel I have made more progress. I am waiting for some rough rider tyres to go on my chrome rims, so will not make up originals just yet. Next big job - paint body.

i had some success with modding the front end to my re-re frog last night. it may not be headed to the trash can after all.

a while back a guy gave me a big wooden crate filled with old rc parts, there were complet cars in there and alot of 1/2 cars.

there must have been parts to a king/super blackfoot because i found orv style front arms that were much longer then the standard frog/mb/blkft.

i installed the longer arms, along with crp's shock tower kit and a pair of 80mm oil shocks (shocks are a bit too long).

i made some longer steering tierods from 4-40 threaded rod, drilled out the stock ball cups to accept the larger diameter rod and used dubro rod ends

to mount the new tierods to the servo saver. it looks pretty good to me, now i need to figure out how to mount modern 2.2 wheels on it so i can get some decent traction.

this frog also had an issue with the dog bones, it kept throwing them no matter what i did. so i made some spacers to push out the drive cups. problem solved.

Repaired my girlfriends bike, new wheels, brakepads, chain and gear, fixed mine too.

After a snowy winter they were pretty dirty so got loads of old clogged up grease on me. ;)

Then I took Wendy and Willy for a ride, got them for xmas and today we had 10+ degrees so nice for a little spin. ;)

then I disambled this

Hummer in a tin can B)

needs some cleaning got it used and look like they put sunblockpaste on the gears

so what were you doing today?

Done some axle and wheel offset measurements on my Clod project, trying to decide whether i need axle wideners or just 14mm splined hex nuts.

Looks like the beadlock rims on i have approx 16mm extra track width each side over the standard clod hub carriers and wheels. May just be enough, although at 175mm between the inner faces of the tyres with the axle level i might be looking for a narrow body to top the chassis lol !

Made for a nice bit of relaxation in between prepping for an interview tomorrow ;)

And early eveing i managed to snap up a near new Traxxas EVx-@ esc and twin Titan 550 motors for 61 delivered ;)

Fair bit of tinkerage and modding this weekend. They do say that a picture speaks a 1000 words, so rather than describe what I've done and you lose the will to live after about 350, here's some pics :

Finally found a look for my original AX10 scaler that works. This will be it's fourth shell (including the original one) that I've tried on it and after some initial hoonage around my back garden crawler track, it actually works rather well!

WeekendTinkerage002.jpg

My old faithful Angle-Box. Had been rather forlornly sat on the shelf for the last few months after I'd raided it's receiver for another car, so thought I'd give it some lurve. I've taken the receiver and 8.5T (4000kV to you and me) EZRun brushless combo out of the DF-02, and along with my old original Monster Beetle wheels given it a new look. The MB wheels and tyres look better than the original ones some how with that shell, and there isn't a great deal of difference in the height, so gearing shouldn't be an issue. Hoping to try it out next weekend. It'll probably be madder than boxed frog factory.

And finally, as they used to say on the news, I think I've found the solution I had to a quandry with the Mega Monster Beetle tyres. Originally it had Proline Flat Irons on, which were great on rocks, but terrible in the clay based quagmire that generally can be found in the woodlands of central and eastern Kent. I'd originally sought to solve this by sticking the original MB chevron spike tyres on. Which were great in the mud, but rubbish on anything harder than that (tree stumps, concrete lumps and the like). Not wanting to buy yet another yet of crawler tyres, I found this solution which I'm hoping will solve the problem: cut out every second outer lug on each tyre with a small pair of lexan scissors. Gives a more aggressive tread, and also opens it out a bit more to (hopefully) reduce the chance of clogging.

I started opening up all my old kit boxes to pull out my spares, or at least I'm trying to. I need to find the TL01 and M04 bits I have somewhere.

Why oh why can't I learn to keep everything in one place? B);)

Oh, I also started sealing my boxes up as I'm going along. This shrink wrap stuff is great. Once they're sealed I know I've looked in them and can pack them away. ;)

Nearly finished my re-re Hotshot, finished painting the driver's head over the weekend. Just the rollcage to be attached and decals to do. Final assembly one evening this week.

Yesterday I sorted through my box of parts and organized most of them into my toolbox, the others are lying on the floor in piles (gears, electronics, bumpers, etc.). Today I fiddled around with the back of my M03 project to only get semi-close to achieving nothing useful .

Also, I took some pictures of my Rustler out in the sun:

I'll try to get a thread up for the Rusty soon, but the pictures here say about half of it :D.

So what have you done today?

Bought something I didn't need!

A Kyosho Pegasus 2wd buggy, off ebay (looks pretty good in the pics)

So, What Have You Done Today?

;) this is a day in the life of a TC'er ;)

Spent 2 hrs machining parts for a modification to my King Tiger gearbox to allow the use of 2 540s and eliminate the need for clutches. A couple more evenings and I'll have enough to post some pictures.

Did some more prep work on the old clod body. Made up a roll cage in styrene, which promptly broke when I was trial fitting! That's what you get fir not letting the styrene cement fully harden overnight. Might resort to Al tubing now !!

I spent the evening soldering together two wiring harnesses for running twin motors to replace the standard MSCs. One for my sons Double Blaze and one for my Clod project.

Also water dipped two old silvercans to clean them out, it's surprising how smooth they are once I finished, I should have done it years ago.

Got two Titan 550's for my Clod, then tonight I realised that I'd got the wrong pitch pinions. Looks like another trip to Modelsport is on the cards this weekend.

Also fitted a new Motor to my Falcon runner.

Interesting. What do you do exactly, just wire em up, stick em in a sink full of water and give em a squirt of juice for 5 minutes?

Have a couple of closed end 550s that I might try this trick on.

Edit: Just Googled, and found this

I spent yesterday pulling out kit boxes, sifting through the spares that I had in them, emptying the boxes out, filling the boxes with old newspaper and sealing them up with shrink wrap. Shrink Wrap FTW! ;) Now I have to do more of the same today and, hopefully, tidy along the way. Perhaps I can finally reorganise all my parts, hop ups and other spares into one area. Once that's done I can put everything into storage to clear the space so that I can finally build my M06Pro (or Avante 2011 if that arrives before I finish what I'm doing).

Thanks for posting that link. It's something I've been meaning to look up for ages! :D

My wife owed me an x"mas gift, a b"day gift & a valentine gift. So we went into the LHS and grab a grasshopper, a fire dragon & an Avante. Incidentally, the Sand Scorcher was on specials if purchased with Avante, so it came home with me as well. Guilt free splurge - She paid for all of them :D

Did some more on the monster Hilux. Steering servo mounted. Body mountings made and fitted. Had a fiddle with the front links to make the axles sit more central. Fitted gearbox and drive shafts. Just need to make a battery and electrics tray, give the old TXT chassis a lick o paint, filler up the holes and re paint the Hilux shell. It's looking good so far. Nice amount of droop in the suspension, so easily 45 degs of articulation.

Also modified the Angle-box's wheelie bar. With an EZRun 8.5t motor and Lipo, the stock one is more or less redundant. Took the small wheel off, made some bars out of 6mm nylon rod and bolted them to the existing ally bar. Then fitted some wheels off an old 1/24th scale Subaru Imprezza that I used to have (one of those £5 garage specials). Works rather nicely :)

Went for a bash with my son at a BMX track. I did two battery packs with my Baldre to one on his Rising Fighter.

Can't wait for the brushless motor and lipos to arrive...
