Decided to rally-fy my TT02 Type S. Took a few weeks to sort, what with shell and track width. Quite happy with it. Full blather on the Builds thread

After collecting a load of bits it was finally time to put my Hotshot 2 back together!

Now when I took it apart for cleaning I inspected every part and ordered replacements for what wasn’t stock or that appeared broken... it seems I missed a few

First up a crack in the rear gearbox. Now luckily I’d got a replacement part as I knew about a crack in the front gearbox so I’d already ordered the required parts tree... those C springs sure are ******s to get off! And despite seeing other people had said to do it in a bag so they can’t fling off somewhere I ended up spending ages looking round the room for them... twice!  And then.. urge... new gear box with C springs don’t work... doh... took it apart again and replaced them with E clips. Much better.

Now I notice a crack in the shock tower. ******. Can’t get those anymore. Hmm time to invest in a 3D printer?! Make one out of carbon fibre? Settled for trying to fix it with some epoxy and that’s drying as I type so I’ll see how that works tomorrow morning.

Next I find a crack in the front shock mount, part D2. Brilliant another D part. Right let’s try some more epoxy... but! It looks like the Boomerang shares this part on its B part tree! B) So that’s now on order. Anyone with a Boomerang who would like the rest of the tree is welcome to it.

Oh and the newer propeller shaft slides about. It does not look like it’ll come lose but it’s annoying. I’ve read popping an O ring in one of the cups sorts that out.. I just don’t have any spare O rings doh.

Hey mate, I just picked up a boomerang yesterday with broken front shock mount. Looks like it's B11 and B12 on the B parts tree. I would be interested if you have the one I need (right hand side) facing the car. Cheers.

Botched up the paint job while applying the final coat of TS-13 clear :( - must have been too cool and humid at the time and I may have applied it too heavliy. It fogged up the blue section....which would be fine if I was going for that sun bleached patina.....but I'm not

I decided that I didn't come this far to give in. So I remasked it and repainted the blue fade (Light Metalic Blue to Mica Blue)

Close call for me today.
The weather got colder and stopped the already compacted snow from melting, thus allowing great conditions for some RC fun.
So off I went, I was hopping the Manta back and forth on the ridge by the lake, when it got stuck on the lake side. After calculating (...or not?) the risks, I decided to venture in and rescue the car, which I managed to. On the way back though, just when I thought I was safe, my right leg suddenly sank in the snow all the way to the groin and my boot totally dipped in the water!

I barely felt the chill on my foot at first, as spooked out as I got, but then I got into driving again and by the end it felt so cold I feared frostbite.
That was silly but well worth it! though next time I might wanna bring a lazo or whatever helps retrieving the car without risking my guts

Tamiya Junkies track day meet at Robin Hood Raceway. Mega day! Ran everything, the outdoor carpet track wasn't completely death slidey, indoor was great, my cars were ace, lots of people. Including @TurnipJF @Barnoid @Mad Ax @graemevw of this parish. A few shakey cam pics

Hi. I think you mean B10 and B11 as I can’t see a B12... and unfortunately those are the two parts that I ordered the tree for! So sorry. :(

It’s also stuck in the post so I haven’t actually for them yet. However once it arrives you are welcome to the rest of the tree.

If you have access to a 3D printer (something I’m looking into right now as it happens) I’ve found a model for this part online so could print it yourself, see here.

I chucked my rough draft frame for the boomerang together after work today, long way to go but its a start!

^^ This is what I am aiming for eventually, a single aluminium formed channel. I think that would look cool!

Sold my FF03 chassis today.  Down to four chassis left.  The M07, XV01, CR01, and TT02.  Starting to feel a bit anxious at the lack of cars.

Forgot to post these yesterday, rebuilt my daughters mad bull and upgraded the steering, on the look out now for better shocks & new wheels & tyres. Oh and a decent servo, once all 3 cars have been stripped and rebuilt I'll have a shopping list and do it all in one go.

Went to the beach this morning. Finally got to try out the genuine Tamiya tires I bought, and they did NOT disappoint! Also flew my drone a bit, and later ran the Mini E-Revo at the skate park. Good day.

this is the last couple of days:

got together most of my TAO1/02 and FF01 projects. Collected over many years, now its time to sort

2020_03_19_sort_build-4.jpg

I started with the blue BMW. Gave it a look over and added a couple of missing bits. Now just have to work out what to do with the paint job. Most likely I'll paint over the top instead of trying to remove the blue. My last two attempts were very hit and miss and I don't want to ruin the body any further.

2020_03_19_sort_build-5.jpg

As a way of sorting the pieces, I thought I might as well start putting chassis together. This first one will make the basis of a Lancia Delta HF Integrale.

2020_03_19_sort_build-2.jpg

While I was looking for bits, I also managed to start sorting screws etc. I have a 32 drawer storage rack to hopefully fit most of the bits and pieces in.

2020_03_19_sort_build-3.jpg

and I also found some time to laser cut a new version of my RC car stands. This time they are self locking, so no screws or glue needed. This is the 3rd revision of this design, it took a couple of goes to get the design right so there is no slop and it fits tight.
