Have i to small of a toe in, or is it just the way they are?

They have poor bump steer geomorty. Any suspension movement affects the steering.

Just the way they design it thats all. Mark.

Give it a slight toe in. If using a 540 motor or higher, you will need to slow down on all the turns and go easy on the wheel. Most Grasshoppers owners know that this car has a high roll-over rate at high speeds, so learning to control one can be a challenge <_<

Lack of dampers = lack of traction.

Even with the Hornet rear damper setup, the car still bounces all over the track. Add RWD and a 540 motor, and you have plenty of potential for oversteer. There's really not much you can do about it other than be light on the throttle out of a turn. This certainly does make if very difficult to get up speed for a jump when you have to feather it so much. Oh well...

may just be me but i really like the way my grasshopper drives lol, i wouldn't call it bad handling, i think spontanious fits it quite nicely lol <_< ,

on the hpi wheel controllers they have a lil thing on them to adjust how far your steering turns, could this be a possible fix for its oversteer?

I do run a SuperStock RZ in it, and it sure is fast. But its actually somewhat nervous on tarmac as well. Sometimes i think the 380 would suffice in it, but its so much fun with the SuperStock. Hornet damper setup has helped, but one shouldnt expect any miracles i guess. Ill adjust for some more toe in also.

I really like how badly my grasshopper and frog handle - it's all part of their character. In a lot of ways they're more entertaining because of it.

HI,

i had a lot experience with G1 and G2 in the far past. I suggest to do this:

Bigger wheels front and rear. Fox and Wild One rims fits well. Or buy the alloy adapter from Tamiya and put in Dyna Storm or Desert Gator wheels. Bigger diameter help with handling. These wheels are also lighter and this help the suspension movements. Also the new tires you can mount on are softer and this help the suspension avoiding the bumping all around. The lower profile of these tires also will help.

Then mount the Grasshopper 2/Super Hornet front A parts, the front arms. They are larger then G1/Hornet front arms so ypur front end will be a lot larger helping stability against roll over. You only must file a very little bite the chassis to accomodate them. With this arms you can easier mount the front oil shocks. Everything is better than original coil spring ones. CVA II is good but you can choose some from all 1/18 off road cars are sold in these times. A little bit of toe in will also help.

Hope I helped you

Cheers

Thanks for the practical tips on the handling. I have some Hornet rear spikes as well as Super Hornet fronts and rears. Ill give that a try. Ill be building my Super Hornet till next season at least. Itll be nice to se the difference between the both. The front CVAs will probably make the most difference i guess between them. I agree that the bad handling is some of the charm of driving these cars for sure. Ive seen a friends Losi go round the track with ease, like it drives i self. But is just aint fun like driving my GH.
