Finished building the TT-01 kit yesterday and had a bit of a problem with servos but thats fixed and took her out for the first spin with the clear unpainted bodyshell, to be painted soon. It was good, not a great top speed, like the acceleration and I drifted without even trying so not a bad car overall. Im thinking of installing either a P2K2 or RS540 Sport Tuned Motor, a 20t esc, aliminium prop shaft and possible a ball bearing set if I can be bothered to install them. What do you think of the TT-01 and what will it be like with the hop-ups im adding. Will post a pic soon

Alu propshaft: good idea, standard plastic twists and vibrates.

Ball bearings: good idea, should be the first hop-up in any car.

P2k2: good idea, I've got one in my TT01, with a 21 tooth pinion.

I would also like to suggest foam inserts for the wheels, makes a small difference to the handling, I think it's nice to have them.

I've also bought some aftermarket aluminum dogbones for my TT01, the standard plastic ones are prone to having the metal pin come out of them. I've heard some people just glue the pin in with CA or Epoxy - so I guess you can solve that problem without spending any money.

Another thing, if you have been running the body before you painted it, make sure you clean it REAL GOOD before painting, otherwise the paint won't stick and it will chip and flake off after a few runs.

Just use some of that regular green dishwash liquid along with warm water and clean it off thoroughly.

[8D] hi, i have a tto1 also and have recently finished hopping up.

Currently i have

Tamiya super mod 11t motor

Nosram NoLimit ESC

Alluminium Prop Shaft

" Heat Sink

" Steering Assembly

" Front and Rear Knuckles

" Upper Arms

" Hex Nuts

Ball Raced all round

Carbon Upper Frame

Blue Titanium Oil Shocks

Yokomo Semi Slick Tyres (due to nasty weather! usually run Racing Radials!!!!)

The tto1 is quite a car, yet knocked in other forums as being basic!

I agree you have to buy quite a few parts to unleash its potential but what the badword!!!!

Anyone else agree/disagree?

what the badword indeed; it's your money, not mine; it's your car, not mine.

I been racing Touring cars for over 15 Years, mostly Tamiya. This year I have decided to use a Modified TT01 and have beaten HPI pro 4, X-rays, TC3 etc. The car including the hopups but excluding the radio / ESC has cost me £110 (from Hong Kong) and I get pleasure beating other makes with an 'Underdog'. I have NOT had a single reliability issue with the car and some seasoned racers don't look down on it now. Who needs TRF's, Evo's for street bashing / club racing, I can buy one if I want to, but I'm happy with the TT01.

I have got back into racing touring cars, in the past i have used tc3's, schumachers, M1's but decided i would start with something we sell in shop to show what can be done... So i started with TT01, with minimal hopups, they being the alu propshaft, ball races and oil shocks, top deck and most recently ball diffs (though so far unused)

I can simply state the car is stunning, I quite easily kept up with more expensive equipment even ones running faster motors (yes Mr_Pushrod I mean you). They seem nice and strong... I broke a wheel last night (not tamiya i may add) in a crash that didnt damage anything else.

I couldnt hesitate to recommend the TT01 to anyone wanting to run in touring cars.. it wont cost a lot to get it competitive

I reckon the important parts for the car are

Fully Ballraced

Alu Prop shaft

Oil Dampers

Carbon Top Deck

Ball diffs (though to be honest mine goes real well without them I will hold my decision till i try it tomorrow night with ball diffs)

I'll get you next time, lol. I can vouch for the impressiveness of the TT-01, griproll being the only real problem on carpet. With a few choice hop ups and a reduction in ride height/increase in track they go very well though.

Have ordered ball bearings the other night, just bought a pro-peak varipulse and got some foams (42shore front, 37shore rear) and hopefully getting a Nosram tomahawk esc and will be all ready to go on my local carpet track

I originally bought my TT01 as i really fancied the Skyline shell!

Out of the box it was fine though the first things to consider are the shaft and bearings, mine is hopped up to the max but i recently got hold of a ball diff, fitted it, but didnt really notice any improvement.

It seems to run better with the std diffs as i heard that unless your using it on a track you dont benefit,is this true?

Put the original diffs back in, much better indeed, thanks!

Trying to decide where to try out my new VW Toureg, had a quick demo in my lounge but it rolls easily if you are heavyhanded with the throttle!!

Nice car though and great as you can lock the rear diff!!!

Wondering what other shells would look good though, any ideas?

Ran the TT01 tonight with ball diffs, great improvement the car is really competitive... can get consistant times lap after lap.

I think the main downfall of this car is only the limited gearing!
