It really is a super attractive car. :)

Gosh, really that has got to be, still, the best looking 4wd buggy ever made by any company.

mmmm :)

I agree whole heartedly ;)

Fantastic photos! Wow, what a blast of nostalgia. So, here is my bucket of random questions B)

1) What is the red piece that you've added at the front of your Boomerang? What does this help with? I have just got rebuilt my Boomerang, and it is running pretty well. Mine is in purely original form (including stock motor and mechanical speed controller), other than being fully ball-raced. Ball bearings are soooo much cheaper now than they were in 1988 when I got the Boomerang. Unfortunately, I was 11 when I put the decals on and you can certainly tell when you look at it ;) I'll have to post a photo orr two of mine as well

2) Which one of those beauties runs the best? Purely subjective, I know, but I'm still interested in your opinion ;)

3) What kind of maintenance would you do after a dirt run like that (looks like a great location by the way)? Which parts are most important to clean up? What kind of lube would you use and where?

Cheers!

That particular part is CRP brand upper control arm brace. You can also get them in black from Parma. It simply ties the two front upper control arms together, so they don't rock fore & aft as you accelerate/decelerate. You would be surprised at just how much play is removed from the suspension by doing this. There is still play if the two arms move in opposite directions, but that doesn't really happen when driving. When using one, you do have to keep a closer eye on the screw pins they mount to as they are prone to working themselves loose due to the friction of the suspension moving & tight clearances. NOt a big deal, but worth noting...

As soon as I saw the title "avante runner" I assumed this was going to be a request for me to search my parts bin :lol:

Great action shots.
