I like the TGX big scale look, but cannot run ic cars in my neighborhood due to the noise they make. So I'm wondering which may be a better solution here..

A TGX that's converted to run dual electric motor, or a DF02 with TT01 body posts?

NO super RS-4, I don't like belt drivers.

Sounds possible and I don't think it would be too hard, just make a motor mount where the nitro engine goes and stick it in there. The TGX is quite heavy though so I would lose the aluminium chassis and replace it with a thinner alloy or perhaps a carbon one (you'd probably have to make one).

Tell me then, why do you think the TGX is a better platform for this project than the DF02 and vice-versa?

back to the TGX:

well, the spot around the spur gear on the TGX looks spacious enough to mount 3-4 motors, and that'll make 1 hella heavy car with 4 battery packs.. (maybe a dual 550 size motor instead with 2 8.4v packs?) The donor TGX can be found easy here and there cheaply, used.

cutting carbon chassis is no biggie for me, got a dremel and shop drill press for that. Does 60 bucks for a 9.7" x 24" 3mm thick sheet sounds good? Otherwise there's a local metal store where I can pick up some aluminium sheets for cheap...

However, I'm wondering if there's a way to get a 2 speed tranny into this conversion. Would be nice to have hinger top speed along with instant off the line torque. All the 2 speed for electric that I've seen were meant for belt drivers (other than those NOVA units which were motor mounted, but stuck in ratio and quite costy -the more motor, the more gearbox)... hmm...i think i know how to make it work... anyone know the gear pitch for the TGX 2 speed?

PS:

ok, let me revise my belt drive statement: not liking any other than the F-ten. I've spotted several electric F-ten lately... mostly NIB condition (which I'd rather keep that way knowing how hard they are to come by, especially with parts only available on limited basis).. I'm liking the sleek -business like- look they got for the chassis.. but boy they are costy..and limited to on road.

PPS: thought I saw a CF lower chassis plate for ic cars somewhere last 3 years...
