Hi,

This motor came with a recent Ebay purchase, can anyone tell me the turns etc for it?

Reedy competition stock motor on sticker, only other marking is 'SP' on the end of the can next to the screw holes and 'yokomo' on the plastic end cap.

Stock is 27T no?

Thats true, but I guess its easy to question it when you have certain Tamiya motors called "Super Stock" that are 23 turns.

The clue is the name. It's a stock class motor so 27 turns.

Thought it might be but i remember the line from days of thunder 'theres nothing stock about a stock car'

Is this anymore powerful than a tamiya silver can? is the main benefit being able to change the brushes?

These were the standard motor you got in RC10 kits. They are mildly better than a silver can mabuchi but nothing really special.

You'l notice that it is a fixed timing can and there are no ball bearings. Reedy did make some really nice modified motors but this isn't one of them.

Goes to show that you can't believe everything Tom Cruise say's

I remember the motor and it was not a fast stock motor.. Where did you dig that motor out from???

It came with an Ebay purchase, i think the guy used to race with it in a terra scorcher which was also included.

I also got a top force evo in the deal, looks like this motor isn't really good enough to putin that <_<

RC10's came with a Blue Label Associated motor, not the Green Label Reedy. The Blue Label motor was the equivilant to a Mabuchi silver can / box stock motor, and was in the $12 US range. The Green Label Reedy was a $24 US competition stock motor which had to conform to the ROAR stock spec of that era: 27 turn, fixed timing, stronger magnets (not wet mags though), stand-up brushes, unlightened arm, sealed can, etc.

It was a good motor for the day, but the current specification has evolved to include current magnet technology and a can that can be opened for maximizing the internals (turning the comm, polishing the shaft and bushes, shimming, etc.). The Green Reedy in this condition would be an attractive buy for an Associated collector.

The blue label Associated 05 was in the first generation RC10s and was superceded by the green label motor in the CE and all later versions of the RC10.
