ok, after a relatively poor showing at the races today and looking over my RS4 rally and the fact that it was struggling for grip in rally trim which is easiest to drive for me I've decided to move onto a more modern design for racing, and have my eyes on the TA-05IFS EBBRO BTEC Maziora. I run stock touring, if it makes a difference. the other cars on track are mainly TC3s and TC4s, with the occasional Xray or losi TC. how is the TA-05IFS platform as far as TCs go? the whole reason I'm looking at it so keenly is the fact that it's different. if I do go with the TA-05IFS I'll be using the Maziora or the SC430 that can be had on the platform. I'm not experienced enough to notice the difference of how air flows over the body, so having the best handling cookie cutter produced body out there means absolutely nothing to me. I'm more concerned with how well the chassis handles and how well it can put power to the ground. if it can't do either of those well then I'll go back to looking at cookie cutters, but I sincerely hope I don't have to. opinions on the TA-05IFS?

I have two TA05`s(so hopped up theyre unrecognisable). The ifs has laydown shocks at the front and is the only difference to the normal TA05,as far as i can see.For club racing it should be fine, and a massive improvement over the car you have now.The IFS (inboard front suspension) has laydown shocks purely to fit the lower front of the bodies Tamiys are putting on them now.So if you`re not bothered about the body, you could just grab a normal TA05.The NSX and Esso Supra are about the best looking out of the bunch. The TA05R is a good buy too, with the amount of hop ups it has straight out of the box.Comes with no body so you can have the same body everyone else is using at the track.

you see, the whole reason I've been looking over the TA-05IFS EBBRO BTEC Maziora 350R is because it is unique, because it looks different from everything else I've seen on track at the races. I don't want my car to look like everyone else's car. if I can take a unique car or an uncommonly seen car and take it to the track I'll make every effort to do so. the ONLY reason I'd even consider running one of the clone cars (mazda6, pontiac G6, alfa romeo, dodge stratus, ect) is to make a replica of a real car, and there are only a select few clone car bodies out there that share a bodystyle with a full scale race car. I like for my car to stand out on track. if the only way I can tell one body from the other is the headlight and grille stickers then I won't buy it even if it was the same body Masami Hirosaka or some other pro driver used to drive to the win at the worlds. form may follow function but if function causes 5 or 6 different bodies to have the same general form then form follows function is broken in my mind

anyway, other than being able to use low nose bodies, there isn't any performance gain from the IFS setup on the TA-05IFS? would the decrease in unsprung weight have any effect on handling compared to a regular TA-05? and would the suspension setups be about the same for both?
