Stripping Anodizing Off Using What?

hey everyone,

the red shocks on my high lift are looking a little out of place on my orange, black and chrome truck. I'd like to get the red off, and polish the shock bodies up.

whats best (or usable) for getting the anodizing off, without the need to rub it down afterwards?

I've never tried it, but I've always heard that oven cleaner (Easy-Off or equivalent) will strip it off. I don't know how much work it is.

In which case you might try Ainsley's favourite - Fairy Powerspray

Caustic oven cleaner will do it - just don't leave it on for too long!

Dishwasher powder will do it too - just try putting your wifes' new ally meat-tenderiser in there and see what happens!!

oven cleaner will strip it but it will also start to attack the aluminum if you leave it on too long. In any case you will need to polish them up in the end. you can use fine steel wool and is so be it, polish them up to chrome with a metal polish.
