Hello Group

I take the chance to submit the group this picture, hoping someone might know more.

At very fisrt glance, I was sure they were custom 1/20 tamiya models. It take a second, a third, a fourth... to discover the obvious.

Those are 1/10 cars. Theoretically you might want to use them over over a track (altough just for a very slow lap...)

Some one know who make them? a web site? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

These pictures are of the TWO Pinion F1 car club here in Japan. There are not all RC cars, some of them are but some of them are completely hand built. They always show thier cars at the TAmiya Fair and the Tamiya world championships. They do other cars such as the streched LP500 and a few touring cars that are pretty cool also.

I will see if i can find their webpage

I can recognizes reading some of these beauty in RCword (a japanese magazine).

They are pieces of gem. Such as the Brabham BT-46 Alfa Romeo being mainly hand made chassis and gear-chains from TGR and it has the same engineering characteristic of having a rotating (Gound Effect) fan at the back.

The other one being the JPS Lotus 86, also hand maked and with wing shaped side-pod, skirt and twin chassis as the rear car. In the journal it described having excellent road holding thanks again to ground-effect. ...

Dear Mb

would be possible for you get a scan of the magazine? Lotus (of course) is the most interesting.

Dear Jedi

I know they are Tamiya, but not "production". The Williams is clearly a modified Fw07, while the Tyrrels (I've both, the orig and the re-issue) are "upgraded" to perfection level.

Dear Bakaguyjean

If you can find a link for their web it would be really appreciated.

Thanks to all!

I check the photo I read from the magazine against the attachment here.

The one I read seems a bit bigger than those shown here, around 1/7 or 1/8.

Nevertheless, here are the scan some of it....

This car is a different one than the one in the first picture. If i can find the website it shows how the Lotus in the first picture was made.

The Gas powered Lotus is really a step above the other cars. But if i had the money to travel to England just to make an RC car, there might some better projects coming out of my house. B)

Holy cow!!!!!!!!!!!

I would kill to drive a lap with such car....

This is model skill!!!

Sorry for the delay but i dont have any usefull links.

The name of the F1 club is Twin Pinion, not two pinion. I havent found a link to thier website as it is been hard to find. I sed to have thier bussiness card but i just cleaned out my wallot last week and that was one of the cards to go. If i get one of there cards again i will be shure to keep it.

There used to be a link on the Shiouka hobby show website but again i cant find that one either. I will keep looking for it as i enjoy F1 cars also.

I guess the modelling / RC skills in Japan are leaps and bounds ahead of TC. And Emperor Tamiya must get a lot gifts from Tamiya fans in Japan on a regular bases hence TC gift may not be a big deal to the company, could the first outside Japan.

I think the skill level at TC is a junior level compare to the skills I have seem from private submissions to magazine like Radio Contraol Car Action. I don't mean to be a put down for TC members as there are some excellent modellers out there it just do their own thing and not botter to join any club.

Sorry to kiss bottom but i think the TC car was awesome...

I agree TC car was awesome, better than anything little old me can put out for sure. We got some big fish in this pond but out there, there are much more bigger fishes in an even much bigger pond.

I occassionally buy RC mag. from Japan and some of the stuff they have are just that much ahead, too bad I don't read Japanese but the pictures are worth a 1000 words.

The difference is that most TC members aren't scale model fans, but vintage r/c fans, so have no interest in building scale models. Looking in Scollins or Dee Millers showrooms will show what some members are capable of and many have been shown in RCCA. Much the same in Japan, a small section of r/cers are interested in scale modelling. If you want to see what the rest of the world are capable of regarding scale r/c check out the forums at http://www.scale4x4rc.org/home/

The Scorcher wasn't a big deal to them because r/c in general is just a small part of their business and something that doesn't excite them. They would be more interested if we sent a Mini4wd which is a considerably bigger part of their business. Their main business and interest is scale modelling and even though the TC Scorcher looks great it is nothing compared to some of their modelling competition winners.

I have to disagree a little as RC here in Japan is completely different than anywhere else.

Crawling is pretty popular and there are some great scale crawlers but that bit of scale is everywhere here in Japan. Its not just trucks. It spreds from M-Chassis cars to Tanks. And its not just the bodies its the full chassis 100% RC dork fest. People just seem to go the extra step and challenge thier mind.

Even the sales of RTR`s isnt all that big. Most people will buy a unpainted body and not the painted ones. And i dont hear about getting someone else to paint your body for you.

Drifting RC cars are huge here. And everybody tries to do something different. Over fenders made from PET bottles,Home made decals, custom wheels, brake calipers, spoilers. A whole bunch of strange scale details. The whole idea of looking scale is what drivers the drifting market. Its not a racing issue,or speed issue. I dont really care for drift cars as i dont like the style but i respect the details that go into those bodies.

And at races there is usally a theme or basic mood of the event to get things going in one direction, not just lets see whos fastest, there is that two but half of the Drivers at Kyosho driving the Spada uses thier driver figure.Does it add weight , yes, does it help at all,no, But just the fact that they thought it would look more scale they put it in there. The even painted the driver figure. People run with full LEDS in there cars at real races.I have seen a number of 415,TF-5, with full LEDS. What the battery drain on a full LED set up. Dont know, who cares it just looks nice.

Even the 1/8th nitro guys run other bodies than the CAN-AM cars. Its a normal class at 1/8th races here.

I know there is some RC stuff to do in other countries but here i dont have to worry about a circut, there are 5 with in a 45 minute drive. One even has 4 circuts in the same place,1/10th,1/5th,1/8th off road and a 1/10 off road. Most people have an RC shop with in an hours drive and a circut.so there is plenty going on. And drifting is in alot of the parking lots around here. Every Thursday there are 5 guys that get together and dork out on RC in a parking lot down the road from me.

If anything the RC magazines that are here in Japan only show about 2% of what is going on,and it might be bad but i know two guys that write for RCW,and a 3 guys that write for RC magazine one is an editor. And they all live in the same town and they all go to the same races and they all are close friends. So some of the RC magazines here in Japan are even more narrow than elsewhere.

Here is a none magazine picture.

The TC Schorcher is the best thing at Tamiya as of Today. It makes there other models on display look boring. Great job guys

Anyway is there anybody else making Vintage style body for the F103 besides D-Drive? I tried to talk the TRG guy in to a Jimmy Clark Lotus but he wasnt going for that for the lack of wings.

Cool to hear, you are lucky to have so much R/C near!

So is the TC Scorcher on display at Tamiya now?

nice!! the Evo5 mini with IFS!

last time i saw it, it was 'new' and had front shock towers

am wondering how the mini wheels fit onto the knuckles... with stock (reversible short) suspension,

can't even get clearance for some Tamiya wheels let alone anything smaller.
