Hi All

I have an escort ta01 bodyshell, and have been working on a hopped up TA02 chassis. (FRP one)

Ive just about finished it however the chassis is far to small for the wheels to fit.

Help! I thought they had the same distance between wheels.

Cheers

flip the rear suspension arms

if still to short find the f150 s10 rear arms and flip them

the most change in atrms is the black porsche tiason 911 they used them to shorten, but flipped extend quite a bit

Thanks, but its about 20 mm to short..

I had a RW racing frp chassis and have just changed it over to the frp one, however not only do the wheels not fit but the shaft is too short..

Im really confused B)

The TA01 and 02 have interchangeable parts, but you have to get the right combination to get the proper wheelbase. The difference in length is in the rear suspension.

TA01: Long gray Manta Ray tub, rear dogbones angle forward, shocks attach to backside of arms

TA02: Short black tub, rear dogbones angle backward, shocks attach to a slot in the middle of the arms

See if you can find pictures of the 2 chassis side-by-side and it becomes obvious what the difference is. The wheelbase is identical, but the rear wheels are further back in relation to the chassis on the 02.

If you switch a TA01 chassis to a TA02 and change nothing else, you will end up with a shorter car than before, because the 02 tub is shorter than the 01. You need the rear suspension arms and hub carriers from a TA02 and everything will line up again. Just flipping the arms probably won't work, because the geometry will be wrong.

The front ends are actually different too, but it doesn't affect the wheelbase.

You might have to move the body posts here and there to get them to line up with the holes, too. If I remember right the TA02 came with extenders to move the rear body posts to the TA01 location.

Does anyone know If TA01/ 02 shells will fit TT01?

would love to see if anyone has actually tried it?

The Tamiya BMW M3 and Lancia Delta kits are exactly that: a TT01 chassis with one of the old TA01 body styles. The others should be interchangeable too, as long as it's one of the "standard" sized ones (not the SWB Porsche or something).

In my experience, Tamiya touring/rally shells from any series fit any Tamiya chassis better than any aftermarket shells.

All touring car bodies of any make fit on all touring cars, again of any type. There are one or two exceptions such as the Peugeot 306 but they are usually obvious.
