I'm just about to start the paint work on my new Touareg, using a red and white paint scheme (PS-2 + PS-1). I also purchased can of Pearl clear paint. My hope is the pearl clearcoat wll give the colors added "pop" and depth. Does anyone have experience using the pearl clearcoat, is it worthwhile, and how many coats should be applied before applying the PS-1 and PS-2?

Cheers

I think the idea is he sprays it on the inside first before the 2 colours [:o)] [;)]

Never used it so I can't say but it sounds like a good idea to me. You could try testing it on a scrap of lexan first to see how it looks?

well first let me start by saying i have never used tamiya or any other model paint before,(only automotive) but when i do a three stage pearl i generally put on 2 to 3 coats. The biggest thing is to keep the coats light, and even. Hope this helps[8D]

Is this pearl a lexan paint? If not, better forget it, as it won't adhere well on the body, also it may react with the Tamiya paints, this may also happen if its a non Tamiya lexan paint.

Yes it is a lexan paint just not Tamiya brand. Thanks for the advice guys, put the three coats of pearl on last night. Put on a couple of coats of red after that....not a bad result...made the red a little too "candy apple" for my liking but hey...should look dynamite with the white.
