anyone done assembling their Gold Ed VLB? How does it stand out on shelf vs. the standard VLB?

Any ideas about the size of the production run? I got burnt once already with the Metallic Special WW2

when I decided to buy one (WW2 Metallic Special), they were all long gone from the shops and already fetching absurd prices on ePay... This time I'm not going to make the same mistake twice, as Tamiya is advertising a very limited prod run!

well in finally got my lunchbox when they was first re-released then last year i saw a midnight pumpkin metallic special so i had to buy that and when i saw that tamiya have done the lunchbox in the very beautiful gold edition i had to make a visit to my lhs to place a order for 1 and at the same time i also ordered a rover mini cooper racing kit to keep my going until the gold lb arrives. roll on the end of the month (i hope)

It's beautiful. Not built though.

Mine is sitting in the box where it 'll be for quite some time as I have a runner re-re, another re-re in the box, and a factory sealed pumpkin metalic special in the box. I just don't have the room to build and display all my kits. I also missed the WW2 special, so I jumped on this as soon as I saw it come out. Jason had them immediately at a decent price - without ESC though.

"jr-rc" - one of the better blokes on there.

Excellent range, reasonable prices, reliable service.

mmh... for hard to find stuff, Jason is your man, granted, and the stuff is priceless anyway. For more "mainstream" stuff, I think Jason sometimes makes you pay a premium for his "brand equity", especially on shipping fees... Gold VLB at $99 + $55 S&H vs. very online shops at $72+$35... Quite a premium if you ask me. I don't care whether I'll be blackbanned or not...

My 2 Gold VLB's should arrive this week, at $72 a pop - woo-hoo!!! If you guys have built pics, please post them, can't wait to see what the car looks like in the real!!!

I really don't mind paying a couple extra bucks for good service. IMO you can't put a value on well packaged three day trackable insured shipping to US from Japan. -Or maybe you can - $54... meh. Not having to worry makes me happy.

I prefer to buy stuff locally if possible as it usually comes out to be about the same cost, but I don't want to miss out on one if they are truely a limited run.

Same here, I hope I can order one from my LHS or just find one sitting on the shelf like all the re-res and XB Pro's... People don't buy Tamiya where I am from, GOOD for ME!!
