Hi guys,

after a few non-fruitful attempts at contacting a well known forum member to ask him whether he had any left for sale, I decided to have a machining shop quote me for alloy-made body posts for the beloved VLB. After having gone through more that 8 posts in 10 or so packs, there's only so many chrome side exhausts I can fit to my other runner bodies :) Anyways, the shop has a model now, and they will get back to me with a quote. As will all manufacturing machines, setup cost will be the key cost driver, hence, the bigger the production batch, the lower the unit cost... I need to know how many members would be interested in purchasing some of these. Mind you, it will not be cheap, but if we're numerous enough it shouldn't come in much more expensive than what this previous forum member was asking... The posts will also be a larger diameter, so there is zero risk of breaking them, the stock parts are only 4mm I think and here we're shooting for 7 or 8mm.

Can I please ask you to let me know how many of you would be interested in such a product, and how much max you'd be willing to pay? Keep in mind that the VLB part tree that has the body posts on it is the chrome one, hence not the cheapest of the kit? Let's please post here!

I want one and I'm willing to pay GBP30 for a set of four for the peace of mind of running my VLB with its gorgeous ABS as HARD as I want without any afterthoughts. Bring it on!!!

Now, your turn :)

There is no use for them for runners really,if you make them harder(ally) than the origional ones then the damage will eventually move to the body or chassis.

Your alloy/ally ones will be ok for a shelfer, but then so are the standard snappy chrome plastic ones.

I use cut down flexy TA01/02 rear ones made from a nice flexable nylon type plastic.

they do not break and have enough movement not to cause any problems in my LB runners.

I had som made in alloy. They are excacly the same dimentions as the originals and will not break. 4mm alloy is plenty and will fit the original holes in the shell.

However the ones I have needs to use a slightly longer screw to attach it to the chassic since the upperpart is all round where the screw sits.

I have a novak 5800 brushless in my lunchbox and it have been driven like badword. Since the alloy upgrade, no breaks!

I have a spare set, and will consider selling it for the GBP30 you had in mind. Still interrested?

Hi Twisty - thanks for your input. The problem with the original ones is that they're too brittle... however the chassis is flexible like crazy, hence it should be able to absorb the energy that alloy ones will transmit. The other solution would be to make them out of a flexible material indeed, and yes this is the route I'll go if I can't drum enough volumes from TC members.

Hi Jimmy - thanks for the comments. I'm interested in having some made for a group of users. I hope that we can be numerous enough to go below 30GBP/set, but I can only know that once I know the order quantity... May I kindly ask you to erase that post above as it is not helping me with what I'm trying to do here, and to use the "classifieds" section instead? That would be much appreciated... Thanks

Anyone else?

Regards,

They are not excacly for sale, I just though I might help you out if you were really in need of some. Not gonna erase or move to clasified, sorry.

I had mine 8 posts made by a friend who made 20 in total. It took him an hour to do the drawings and program the CNC mashine (a one timedeal) and another hour to make the 20 posts. He did it free for me, but he estimates GBP10 would about the right price in a massproduction if he would have a guy to make more. Anyone with a CNC mashine can do this. Just for info.
