Hi chaps

just a quick thought provoking question on trading. Why is it some people get right upset if some club members trade cars and parts even if they have just done a trade to get said item. Or is it just me noticing that some members get the right ache if this happens, because if it wasnt for club members trading all the time then most members would not be able to get their pride and joys rebuilt to a very good standard. Has anyone got any views on this as i would really be interested. [:D]

Some people are jealous of the items you have and want them for themselves. I say what's yours is yours and if you don't trade with another member, how dare you??? We've looked at your showroom forever drooling on the keyboard begging for a chance to get all your stuff. Keep it in the family ZX9. Oh by the way, I don't really care, I just like making fun of the guy who has all the Tamiya models new built and never runs his cars. They never know how much fun these things are.[:P]

I personally don't care, but maybe some people would love to see their cars stay in a place, to know where they are are and to know they are in good hands? Or they wanted to trade with someone who will love and keep the car and not re-sell it for profit? Those could be some reasons [?]

I guess if everyone sells/trades in a deal which makes them happy, what the person then goes on to do with it should be of no interest to them (other than liking to track their models[;)]) If I sell for a price I'm happy with and then someone sells it on for more then good for them.

I think where people tend to get a bit more upset (myself included to a degree) is when they believe they are doing a member a favour and sell them something cheap to help them out, only for that member to turn around and stick the item on ebay etc. It grates a little, I still wouldn't ever hassle them about it but it makes you think twice next time before 'helping' someone.

If I buy items then for what every reason, quite quickly decide to pass them on to others I normally either try and do it for the same price, or at least let the previous seller know I'm not just doing it to make a quick buck.

I once sold a lot of cars, RC10 Graphite, RC10 Goldtub, Kyosho F40 (Optima mid based car), Schumacher Procat and Bosscat, lots of parts etc, to a guy who claimed he was going to run them, he even e-mailed me lots of pictures of "his track" and told me all about how he was looking forward to getting them and if I might include some pinions and spurs gears, and subsequently he got a very good price from me, I thought he was friendly and the deal went through, I felt like I nearly wanted him to have them as he seemed like "such a nice guy"..

Two weeks later I notice all the cars on ebay.

I think he might have made something like a $500 profit.

Hmm I feel exactly like Chris.

I have no issues doing a deal - and if the buyer get a better deal selling the stuff he got from me - GREAT - but in the case where someone begs you for a scarce part - and you actually strips a complete "thing" to help the "beggar" out - and it just gets sold again in a attempt to make $$$$$ really makes me mad!!(using nice words)

If I knew that is was only for the $$$-Value and not the restoration/love value I would never have done the deal.

I once sold a special modclod for a nice price and the guy sold it later GRRRR[;)] [:o)][:o)]

just kidding.... I don't care what anyone does with stuff I sell/trade...I know when I have done a deal that I am happy with it, otherwise I would not have done it....

and for people making money of things I sell...good for them...

one thing I do regret is giving away a small part to someone who really needed it to finish his car and I never even got a "thank you" mail....

that really ****ed me off...

Right so most people are of a like mind, it doesnt bother people as long as they know clearly what the trade is for. I myself will always say what a trade is for because then there is no illusion as to what i want the trade for. If it is for 1 of my trucks or cars i will say, but this being a hobby if i need cash i will sell it all without a backward glance. This is because like most of us family is more important than a model. but saying that a lot of trading i do is for models that i resell. the fun of this for me is restoring the models and then selling them on to people who will enjoy them.[:D]
