I can imaging everyone wants to be on the home page for at least an hour with their newly bought/built bab(y)(ies).

Some lads want to add loads of cars but don't want attention.

Other ones, maybe, don't like large amount of adding as I have understood from a certain topic.

So, is it possible to add cars anonymous (without being noticed on the home page)?

Maybe here's a solution:

-When you don't add a pic in the first box, it doesn't appear on the home page.

I don't know if this is possible.

Grtz Dee.

PS Just for the record: I don't mind seeing members adding large amounts of cars at the same time, just testing the waters...

well when I want to add something without drawing attention when I add it I mark it for sale, then wait a few days and un mark it from sale.

If you do mark it for sale it appears in your showroom but not on the home page

that will be a real pain tho if you are adding 100+ cars

Not sure why anyone would want to avoid attention - Not that they crave it, but surely if you host pics of a collection on a public site, it's not because you demand privacy?

I've not read anything from any of the 'multi-posters' saying specifically that they don't want attention, or are looking for a way to avoid it.

Not adding a pic in box 1 does nothing, the system just moves pic 2 up to pic 1's place

Adding no pics at all just results in an empty thumbnail.

no, the only time I used it is when I had deleted a showroom entry I sold the car and then I bought it back and re entered it :)

The only issue here is that most people feel nobody bothers to press that little link that says "more.." underneath the showroom thumbnails on the homepage.

And very true... that link is very small and easily missed, and its sluggish too. It takes at least 5 to 10 seconds to work no matter what computer and internet connection i've used.

If the "more..." link was bigger, and said something more like "Click here for the latest showroom entries!" and worked faster, more people would look at the newly added items i think :)

I like that idea.

Look out Dee! Your post might get misinterpreted! lol :):D

Take cover and hide! :P

Nice idea. You're a brave man :D

Thx, I've been there before so I hope it doesn't get misinterpreted this time.

Just testing the waters, no offence to anyone!

I know a lot of viewers don't post/reply but maybe there's a "need" for ever what reason that may be.

If there IS a need, it will still be the question if this could be added.

I think it's a great idea Dee -

I recall a few other members including myself having asked Chris for a 'back door' option for entries, since some of us like to use the showroom as personal reference rather than show-and-tell. (I use mine for both)

It wasn't long ago when the front page headlined only 7 entries making the space much more precious than the current 14 space layout. When Chris doubled the number, the 'back door' idea was mostly forgotten. Personally I think it's still great idea and would like to see it implemented. I understand that you can skip the front page by checking 'for sale' box, but what if it's just another NIB, parts, or miscellaneous reference? Plenty of circumstances come to mind.

Agree with mymonsterbeetle about the 'more' links being sluggish - Not a very convenient way of browsing through the site if you have to wait 5+ seconds for every click. (I rarely browse the trades section for this very reason.) What's worse is it has been like this for as long as I can remember - in spite of numerous changes made to the site. Perhaps Chris is NOT aware of the problem?

Where is Chris anyway?

Somebody talk to Chris, so we can be done with this subject..

Possible reasons:

-he has other things on his mind because I don't get any response to my email/topic replies.

-he is into Nikko nowadays.

-his account has expired.

-he hates us.

-he moved, still got his eBay store open 24-7, no internet connection...go figure...busy man.

Dee, didn't you know he bought an Island off Mel and is dating Posh. You got to get out more instead of working on Tamiyas. Got to read the Star, National Enquirer or People Magazine on a daily bases. :(

It seems to work quicker now
