Evening everyone, I have just restored an original monster beetle and Subaru brat back to superb working original condition. How ever I think i have made the gears up incorrectly somewhere, they both work with no griding or crunching but they are slow! I have all the original cogs from an 83 Brat, 85 Beetle & an 87 Blaster, from all these cogs what is the best selection for the fastest speed?... as i am unsure how to work it out? some have turn numbers on them but?????

I do have some uprated motors i could use too some 19 turn team orion race ones if that would help with an decision making?

many thanks.....................

I like the 52/16 ratio from a frog/brat rere if I run proline dirt paws

for taller tires, 52/10 or get a crp style ''swing'' motor mount to have it totally adjustable

Thanks so i take that you mean a 52 main and a 16t on the motor :) good ive not done this for years lol.............

I think i have the 50t and 48t cogs not sure what all the motor ones are?..... i think i am running the 48 now, so is the 48 going to be faster or slower than the 50t?....

larger the spur the more torque but slower speed

larger the pinion the faster speed, but less torque

With that gearbox unless you have an adjustable mount the gears must ''matchup''

so the 52 spur must be used with 16 pinion, or the bfoot 10 and motor plate (most torque, slowest)

50 must be with the 18 pinion (middle)

and the 49 tooth spur must be with the 19 pinion (fastest ratio)

hope that helps
