You Know You're A Tamiya Addict When...

Recommended Posts

I've just admitted it to myself (the first step in getting help?!)

  • I have more kits in bits than i do built
  • I think about buying more when I have more than enough to be getting on with
  • Can't help buying cos 'It's a good deal' (TLT coming soon!)
  • I panic a little bit if i can't search for 'Tamiya' every day on ebay.....

Commmon; a problem shared is a problem halved!

to anyone who dares to ask "I don't have a problem, YOU have the problem"

You may have too many if... you sell one or three and you still can't make space. :(

I love Tamiya, I started racing Tamiyas back when i was around 12. I am almost 32 now *shivers*. Now mind you I did have a LONG break in between there, but when I made the choice to come back to the hobby I went right back to good ol trusty Tamiya.

As it stands now here are the cars I have

TT-01 Heavily modified

TA-05MS Stock... for now.

RTR Porsche GT which doesn't seem upgradable at all

coming soon

Either a TRF 415MSX or 416, I haven't decided which ill order. 416 is "coming soon" but I can pre-order it.

Also looking at EVO V since I am used to shaft drive...

The wife is used to my expensive hobbies, from my Wii/PS3 and about 35 games between both of them, to my electronics addiction, and just as she got happy that I stopped playing golf so frequently and sold off my clubs the smile half stopped when i turned to RC :(

Sad truth is..

It'd be closer to a Tamiya Widows Club..

A good indication of a Tamiya Addict is...

Some one who instantly clicks Buy It Now on eBay when they see something they have been looking for, regardless of cost..

Then having to figure out how to pay for it, let alone the fact that they bought 2 of them since it took them so long to find one.

Pretty much all the messages in this thread apply to me!

We have the spare room as my RC car room, but I have been banished to part of the garage that was converted into a spare bedroom, so I have no proper light :(

Still, at least I have a room to store them all in, just need some workbenches and storage shelves and it'll be perfect!

You know your an addict when you buy somthing expensive for a car you dont own so you can tell you friends "oh yeah got one of them comming soon" or you keep anyrhing rc related like empty parts spruces.

Stefan

I am pretty much all of them. The post man dosn't even bother to knock on the door anymore as i am always waiting for him. At this moment i can see 4 cars. I use any excuse including "Dad this guy has a sand scorcher and has listed it under old toy and it is 20 pounds" in actual fact the seller knows exactly what it is and it is 200 pounds not 20 pounds. I can name over 30 cars out of the top of my head.My msn piccy is a porsche 959. I have marked a track on the floor in the living room.

I have to rearrannge my cars every week as i am never happy with the way they are layed out. Almost everyone in the post office knows me or my parents.

Guilty on several counts:

  • Yes I have set my alarm for 4am local time for an auction  (and won it !!)
  • My postie's names are Carl & Neil. :)
  • I never need an excuse to buy another car, but I do need one ready for the missus when it arrives.
  • Hmmmm, a database for spare parts.........now THERE's an idea !!! :)
  • Several recent acquisitions have been spotted by others for me.
  • Yes my MB is on the desk beside me.

It's all downhill from here :P
