You Know You're A Tamiya Addict When..

You keep telling your girlfriend that this car is the last one and you will sell some cars later on...NOT :(

The mailman's smile gets bigger every time he leaves a parcel at your door from Japan.

Paypal starts an investigation on your payment behavior.

The bank sends you a letter in which they ask me to make an appointment to talk about my creditcard use ( i just can't tell the guys i use there services just to buy RC cars ) :)

My girlfriend hasn't got any room to store the laundry.

It's not Tamiya as such that we are addicted to, it's Tamiyaclub.

Let's face it, if there was no online club where we could share models, builds, opinions and experiences about Tamiya would we do the ridiculous things we do? I doubt it.

Fact is that most of us got bored of the hobby after a period of time when we got into it the first time around because, lets face it, just buying a kit then building it and running it has only a limited and finite appeal.

This club allows us to indulge in our passions and aspirations, but most of all brings us together as part of a community with a shared interest in a way that was not possible before the advent of the internet.

Long may it continue!

My little contribution: You know your an addict when you buy a kit, then sell it to raise funds...only to regret the sale so you buy the exact same kit back a few months later for more than you paid for it the first time around! :)

You speak truth,

I doubt I would have even bought another kit if it wasn't for Tamiya Club.

I'd won a Tamiya 787b off eBay, which I got simply because I was a Mazda fan.

Then I decided to see what 'Hop-Up' Options there were for it and I discovered Tamiya Club.

From there I learnt of the Re-Release Hotshot,

and after browsing through other peoples showrooms (the Non-Box Art Competition was runnning at the time), I became inspired.

I probably would have painted my Shottie Box Art if it wasn't for Tamiya Club, and the oppoturnity to do something that not only I could enjoy.

But something that I could share with other people across the globe, even if it was just a different paint scheme.

So am I Tamiya Addict?

YES, and I have you lot to thank for it. :)

nah you're wrong... i was collecting oldies before TC came along, predates the web even.

Although if the web didn't soak up its fair few hrs every week, i'd probably get more progress on all those resto projects. :-P

i'd buy 1 and i don't even drive,

you know your addicted when you get protective when people mistake a tamiya for a non-hobby grade r/c (may just be me lol)

btw i am known as the ebay freak at school because i buy so many things lol

that nickname is quite familiar with me also, only because they don't know my addiction for rc4wdtore aswell lol

Your bumper sticker reads "My other car is a Tamiya"

Hey !! I bet we could sell loads of those B)

Parma used to sell one that said "My other car is radio controlled." I had one on my old Accord.

you know you're addicted when its 2am,you're eyes have gone ****-eyed due to looking at tiny parts, you've realised you have been bent up double making a kit for so long that you no longer have the ability to stand(then theres the pins and needles)and you STILL have the desire to "maybe start the shell"!

that box key keyring idea sounds great! as does the bumper sticker....and...and...

I always take a week off when I've ordered some parts...

You KNOW you're an addict when your creditcard company sends you your monthly bill (like: WHAT?!! THAT MUCH?!!).

..When you realize you have dozens of kits - each of which on their own would fetch more money on eBay than the real car you drive back and forth to work every day.....

Is it just me,

Or does every one else remember Vintage Tamiya Box Wrenches used to have "Tamiya" Cast into the side of them.

Coz I want a Vintage Tamiya Box Wrench more than any Tamiya Model..

Am I Weird?

Yes, I have one or two of the older box wrenches with 'Tamiya' on the side. One definitely came with my original Frog.

Oh, and you know you're a true Tamiya addict when...

1) You just have to have three of the same model - 1 NIB, 1 new built and 1 runner

2) You have more NIB and parts cars than runners

3) You have more than 2 transmitters

4) You have dozens and dozens of 1.5mm allen keys

5) When the weather's hot, and someone says "It's a scorcher", your heart jumps

6) All the household tupperware has been pilfered to hold screws and small parts

7) You have ever purchased a car entirely as vintage spare parts

8) You've ever thought of re-doing a 1:1 car in livery represented in a Tamiya model

9) You've ever done a 1/10 RC version of your 1:1 car

10) You've ever spent more than $100 on a single piece of plastic

11) You've ever ruined aforementioned piece of plastic

12) You have more than 5 box wrenches, or care if they have 'Tamiya' written on the side

13) Your other half has ever uttered the phrases "Oh no, not MORE cars!", or "Why do you need more than one?"

14) You care if a sticker says 'Racing' or 'Rothmans'

15) You still run cars with an MSC, for that 'vintage feel'

I have 4 box wrenches, and 1 has Tamiya cast into it.. And I won't use it for it's too valuable too me.
