Hi All,

I'm kind of working backwards through my Holiday Buggy manual, taking the buggy apart and cleaning as I go (only at night mind you so that the mrs does not notice how dirty I'm making the kitchen sink.. ). I was removing the motor and read the margin note on testing the motor using a 1.5v battery connected to the wire leads. I tried this and got no response. Is it a pretty certain bet that the motor is kerput? As you may have seen from my previous post, the motor was pretty filthy on the outside so probably was the same on the inside..

Bearing in mind the fragile gears in the Holiday Buggy, do you think it would be wise to replace with a direct 380 replacement, or opt for a 540 and the larger mount if I could source one?

Thanks,

Andy

Did you try spinning the motor while the 1.5V battery was attached? If the motor seems to be othewise dead, it would be worth trying to flush it out with large amounts of water and leaving it to dry before trying again (actually some electric motors will run ok under water). There might just be dirt on the comm/brushes.

If it really is dead then a 380 motor should be easily available from anyone who has upgraded their re-release Grasshopper.

Otherwise there should be no problem at all with the 540 upgrade if you can get hold of one.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I did try spinning the motor but there was no resistance or feeling to when attached to the battery. I shall let you know how the jetwash goes.
