I use this stuff called Goo Gone. It's non-toxic and it doesn't attack plastic, and it smells like oranges.

Also, if the stickers are printed on vinyl or slightly stretchy material, pull them off at a 45 degree angle and stretch them slightly as you pull up, and there will be much less adhesive left behind. The same technique works for servo tape, BTW. Stretch and pull, don't peel.

Try vegetable oil - I've used it for years and it works like magic. (You probably have some in your kitchen already!)

The oil soaks into the residue, rendering it 'unsticky', then just peels off with a little rubbing.

Careful with the solvent based removers -- They maybe 'safe' on plastic, but can still cause scratches and clouding.

Quite often, a normal piece of masking-tape will also do the job.. Put the tape over the residue, and rub it firmly with a nail, and then pull off the masking tape again.

Most often, it will remove the "goo", perhaps it needs a couple of attempts, but its easy and non-toxic. :D

Cheers.

pop to your local car spres shop and ask them if they have any tar'n'glue remover if not try and find a car dealers and pop into the valeting bay and ask one of the valeters for some. that will remove the residue for you.

I forgot about that trick. Yeah, try that first. That usually works great.

Thanks everyone. The masking tape does work but takes a while. My friends swears about WD40 but i'm so paranoid about damaging the body.

I'm with markbt73 - that Goo Gone stuff has done some amazing stuff for me removing stickers from plastic and even cardboard if done right (use very small quantities and then immeditely wipe off whats left witha damp cloth .

I purchased some Goo Gone and it works great. Wish I tried that first.

Thanks everyone for your help!

WD works a charm, and is completely safe on plastics. also works on chassis to remove double-sided tape goo.

Be careful, it can solve some paits though, so use it only on outside of lexan shells or on an ABS body if you'll repaint it anyway.

For info, WD40 is a solvant, not a lubricant. It's "greasy" but it's not a grease or a lubricant, it's a light solvant - that's why it used to be used as tire sauce before we had dedicated products. Simple green is also a solution :)
