It has nothing to do with the XC chassis itself.

The "metal top" is actually a reference to the actual body style of the actual car the bodyshell was moulded from..

For example, the mitsubishi pajero metal top wide.. In real life, the 2 door pajero is available with soft top and metal top option. The top refered here is from the top of the doors' window frame to the rear door.

Another example is the Jeep Wrangler body... the real jeep came from dealer with soft top as basic equipment, but there are several hard top options available for it, from dealer and other aftermarket sources. The hard top could be out of fibreglass or steel or aluminium.

Same deal with the Izusu Amigo/Mu body.
