I was wondering how do you take care of tires to prevent them from drying and cracking, especially on display models. Do you put some light oil on the tires or something? Please help, thanks

You can use a 100% pure silicon aerosol spray.

I've been using a product by CRC - heavy duty silicon and it works great to preserve the rubber. I've also been using this product to maintain the rubber seals on automotive windows and doors.

The one thing to avoid on r/c car tyres is WD40, silicone sprays and full size tyre treatements, the chemicals in them actually dry the rubber out.

You need to use pure silicone oil or glycerine.

See here for more information, including why to avoid Armour All.

yea I learned the hard way, I use to clean my miniz tires with wd40. Later on I noticed the tires started cracking and drying up, wd40 drives out moisture so a big no no for tires.

Any other recommendations for cheap products that can be easily obtain, eg like at walmart or auto stores?

thanks

I've got some on order, and when they arrive I'll will report on how good/how effective these clear acrylic bridges are.

50mm, 75mm or 100mm. 30 for 12 incl p&p (nice price!), and I chose how many in what heights.

BTW: Are there any products you guys use that gives tires a natural matte rubber finish? Oil makes them look super shinny and kinda ugly...

Vinylex by lexol works very well for anything rubber/plastic. It's not very greasy or shiny. Make sure to wipe it clean after applying. I use it on my 1/1 car. I am not sure if it's 100% silicone tho. Keeps my dashboard and radiator tubes looking nice without getting them gunky.

all the product suggestions made are good. I would also add not to place your RC in the sun, in hot or cold dry area for long period of time so garage, basement and attic is not that great especially your garage but some times one does not have a choice.

If i remember correctly i used to use silicone oil on my rifles. (it's been about 6 years since i used to shoot)

might be an avenue for cheaper products (anything R/C related tends to command a premium)
