Nothing personal, just curious.

Whenever there's a health warning on stuff over here, it always seems to involve the State of California - Weber smoke chips spring to mind, something about being known to cause birth defects during pregnancy in the State of California

Then, on the Spektrum website just now, found this;

Horizon takes your trust and satisfaction seriously.

We have recently learned that while the packaging on the Spektrum AR6000 receivers distributed prior to May 1, 2007 state MADE IN THE USA, this product does not qualify for such labeling in the state of California.

Why wouldn't the 'Made in the USA' statement apply in California?

The funniset thing is you're not happy with the statement, they'll send you a new label

CLICK for whole thing

I'm just curious as to why California gets nominated for these 'special statements'

It's not that those things are specifically worse for you in California; it's that California has a warning label for everything.

There's a law called Proposition 65 that requires that anything that might conceivably cause health problems be labeled as potentially dangerous, including buildings. You see the notices all the time in public buildings, especially if they're older and might have lead paint or asbestos somewhere.

This from the place with no public transportation, horrendously inconvenient recycling centers, and yellow air.

And people wonder why I'm moving.

Ah, it's good to know it' not just Britain that pampers you to death then

Reminds me of the lobby to get Dihydrogen monoxide banned as it caused erosion, extensive corrosion in metals and death through prolonged exposure.

So does this proposition actually make life difficult, or just lead to lots of extra labels?

Novak has the same problem

Even though the electronics are designed and built in the USA they can't say "made in the USA" in California unless every single component is manufactured in the US, including every single SMT resistor and capacitor.

I guess Associated can't use can't use "made in the USA" labels then :D

It's good of Spektrum to supply replacement labels for our Californian friends. Perhaps they should ensure the labels will stick on the box properly by using contact adhesive. Oh no, if they did that, the label would need to have a warning label on it, warning about the glue on the label.

Well out here in California they haven't come up with the "life causes death" warning label, but just give them some time. Some of the most stupid short sighted stuff comes from California politicians and there are throngs of supporters waving them on. Sometimes, it makes me embarassed to say I live here.

The extreme in anything is not too good. Like proper labelling, the government here wants food items to have labels showing the ingredients. In CA is too much, here is not enough.

I hear a Town in CA wants smoking ban even in your own home. I am a non smoker, but I think is a little bit too much in the land of the free... you are free so long as you are within the law, rule and regulation. :P
