Super Blackfoot Mods?

i was wondering if there were any kind of mods for the super blackfoot?

Short answer: Yes, tons.

Slightly longer answer: It all depends on what you want to do with it. The Blackfoot trucks are all solid, reliable, and a lot of fun, and your Super has the advantage of not using the troublesome Frog gearbox and suspension in the back.

I would say the must-haves are ball bearings and an electronic speed controller. Get rubber-sealed bearings; they'll be maintenance-free. And when shopping for an ESC, keep your future plans in mind; if you're going to want a really hot motor later on, buy an ESC that can handle one right away.

The BF trucks use standard 2.2 inch wheels (in fact, I believe the original Blackfoot SET that standard), so there are almost endless tire options. You can get anything from drag slicks to knobbies to sand paddles to fit those rims, and there are plenty of other wheel choices if you prefer.

If you want better handling and less bounce, look into oil shocks. The yellow ones from a Monster Beetle will bolt right on, but almost any shocks the same length as your originals can be made to work.

If you want more speed, get a hotter motor. Don't go too crazy, or it will be hard to control. Check out the Tamiya Sport-Tuned motors; everyone on here seems to love them.

Yes i would agree with martbt73, i had oil shocks and a sport tuned motor in my king blackfoot and it was a lot of fun.

what would you think about putting this motor in it along with the traxxas XL5 ESC?

Thorp also made a ball diff for the super blackfoot.

what is the difference between a ball diff and a gear dif? i know the ovious gear diff has gears ball diff has balls. what else, better performance

Because the gear diff in the SBF was much better designed than the gear diff in the BF, I don't think thorp sold as many ball diffs for the SBF than they expected.

As for the differences, you hit the main one but the ball diff can also be set up to act like a slipper clutch. thi would releive some the the drive train stresses when taking off and landing after jumps.
