Why is it that the TLT-1 Rockbuster only requires a servo for 4-wheel steering and the TLT-1 Max Climber requires a servo and a 3-channel radio???????? I was browsing on Towerhobbies and saw this. I want one but now i dont know which one, i dont like the battery packs on te rockbuster and a dont like the 3-channel radio for 4 wheel steering on the max climber..

The TLT-1 and the TLT-1 max climber is basicly the same car, except for: wheels, body, color of chassis plates, and the plastic frame in which the battery sits.

You DON'T need a 3-channel radio for either.

Basicly what you do is get a 2-channel radio, with two servos and an esc, and then you get a Y-split cable to split the steering-channel for the two servos. Y-split cables are commonly available as they are used quite a lot in R/C flying objects..

From my personal experience, I didn't like the TLT-1 much at all - I thought it was very high centre of gravity, and it would flip over all the time. I had it set up with 4-wheel-steering, and I've heard from others that it is more stable with only front steering, also the rear servo blocked the rear suspension travel quite a bit.

Another thing, this is just a theory of mine, would be that the bigger normal battery pack the max climber would fit, would be heavier and contribute to worsening the centre of gravity problems, so if you are going to get one, perhaps the TLT-1 with the strange pack is the best choice? Again, you can ask someone else.

You might also want to consider that the chassis is quite small, and any electronics like receiver and esc, have to be very small to fit. I had a "regular" size esc in there, and it was a very very tight squeeze, I had to tie-strap the receiver onto the frame since there was no room for it anymore!

Yes thats right its more stable with just the front wheels turning. I use a computer radio and the 3rd servo on an extra channel. By using the computers mixer I only use 4WS at lower speeds.

Pity I think the TLT is a great little truck, yes its unstable at speed with 4ws but so would a txt or clod at high speed with 4ws. If running a tlt at speed best not having 4ws at all. But for slow speed running 4ws is great. And the modifying potential of the tlt is huge.

What exactly is it that you dislike about the suspension?
