Evening all

Just fitted brand-new TEU-101 in old lunchbox, which has original acoms radio gear with as-7 servos.

ESC beeps twice when turned on, then LED flashing quickly but nothing more. Sometimes it runs the motor in reverse slowly for a few seconds.

Reconnected AS-7 to receiver and that works OK.

Any ideas?

Did you go through the setup as described in the instructions? It isn't quite plug-and-play. It sounds like you haven't set it up yet.

Hi Mark, the problem is that it won't go in to set up mode. It won't do anything!

By "oringial Acoms" radio, how old do you mean? The 101, like all modern equipment, uses the Futaba style of connections. But before that became the standard (early 90s?) different radio manufacturers put the connections in different order. It could be that the connections on your old receiver are not designed to the Futaba standard. I remember using Futaba servos with an old Airtronics receiver back in the day, and having to change the plug around. I've never had an Acoms radio, so I don't know if that's an issue or not, but it's worth checking. If the signal wire is where the + or - is suppsoed to be, or something like that, it won't work.

Maybe someone else on here has connected a 101 to an old Acoms receiver, and can verify the polarity/order of the wires in the connector?

Cheers guys!

I've been running AS-17 servos off the receiver which do fit in the plugs and seem to work OK, so I had presumed it would work with the ESC. I think possibly it's just dead though, as it won't work off a brand-new receiver either.

Thanks for the help though.

does your old Acoms have "BEC" feature in the RX?

if not... the TEU101BK is feeding 7.2V to it... this ESC does not have BEC.

Usually the RX might just not work; if it did the servos move really fast.

I have used 101BK with an external BEC unit inline with the red power plug,

or try it with a 4cell RX battery & leave the red plug unattached.

This might not be much help.

I had exactly the same problem using this speed controller with the ancient acoms gear that came with my monster beetle.

It did the same thing yours did.

Unfortunately i cant remember how i fixed it, but it did all work eventualy. Ive since took it apart again.

I think it was either a bad conection or something plugged into the reciever the wrong way round.

Interesting actually, thanks. In the end I changed the receiver.
