Hiya all

I have a TB01 which I am running indoors on carpet, Sothport RC.

I have was thinking of putting my old ESC, can take motors down to 15t, and my old 16t Motor in it to give it a bit more poke.

Any ideas on ratios I should be using/could try?

Thanks

I run a 61 spur 21 pinion on my carbon tb01 with orion element 19t. the thing flies. had it geared higher before, but the motor got too hot. it all depends on the track too. andy moore ran the element motor on 5.something ratio on a race that he won. dunno how that worked, but the track i run on isnt that big. have another 17t motor geared the same, but just got way too hot and nowhere as near fast. i think every motor has different sweet spots for gearing. you need to experiment and find out.

Exactly every motor is different and thats why to have a magical chart that is always right just wouldnt work. Start with something around 7:1 and then develop from there.

Gear ratio also depends on your driving style as much as the motor. If you are smoother u can get away sometimes with a higher ratio around 6:1 if u keep the speed in the corners as this stops u putting so much load through the motor. However if you are very aggressive you might overheat the motor. tho 8:1 may leave u with too much wheel spin for the grip from your car/tyre/body combo.

Just experiment and take car with the temperature and run times.

Thanks for your help people

I will look and see what options I have re pinions and spurs and try a few out and get back to you.

I normally race a brushless RC10 buggy and I got the TB01 off a mate to run indoors to give me some more track time.

I wouldnt describe my driving style as smooth yet but i am getting there :-)

ps How much would a TRF415 cost second hand ? As some on at our club is selling one. Also could I get parts for a TRF415
